I've had my refurbished (I don't buy new anymore!) Xperia 1 V about 5 years now and decided to upgrade, I wanted to jump to a VII but it's about £1000 refurbished so I decided on a VI and found one in good condition apart from a small scratch on the back for £650 so bought it!
Soooo I bought the Xperia 1 VII about a year back, only to find out now that Neewer made a rig compatible with the moment lens for the Xperia 1 V that I sold. [...]
Sony Xperia 1/5/10 is all of these except the tactile buttons! Been using my Xperia 1 V for 3 years and it's amazing. SD card/sim slot you can open with fingernail is bis, same with headphone jack.
I bought my Sony Xperia 1 V in October '23. Worthy upgrade from my LG G8. And yes, I bought it in the US, through Best Buy.

They seem to skip some years when bringing updated models to the US for some reason, but Sony Xperia phones check most of these boxes. I have an Xperia 1 V that I use as an app dev test device and as a backup phone and have found it pretty nice. The hardware feels great and their Android build isn’t nearly as junked up as Samsung’s. Sony’s phones also come with minimally modified Android. They still have 3-4 bloatware apps to remove with ADB but it’s pretty manageable. I picked up an Xperia 1 V on discount to take the position of “flagship phone” in my Android app dev testing lineup and if I were switch my daily driver away from iOS, it would be in my list of considerations.

Oh my god FELT with the headphone jack issue. It's one of the main reasons I went with a Sony Xperia for my phone, which is now no longer sold or supported in NA 😮💨 I'm of the same mind as you. I'm likely to get a Sony Walkman (ZX707 or WM1AM2) and a Pixel 10XL w/GrapheneOS to replace my Xperia 1 V.

The phones I used ( still own) that handled 2T microSD: Blackberry PRIV (lousy battery life, otherwise great, new battery before I got the LG) LG G8 Thinq (great audio, FM Radio with headphones, put a new battery in it before I got the Sony) Sony Xperia 1 V (Current phone) love the camera software
I think it helps that my phone (Xperia 1 V) has a metal surround, makes it feel more durable, and the back is textured too The flush-to-edge screen is still a big source of paranoia tho

So my phone (Somy Xperia 1 V) finally upgraded to Android 15. One of the new features that has my interest is the ability to stream and capture individual apps instead of the entire screen. Makes me wonder if I could end up streaming Pokémon TCG Pocket or other mobile only games 🤔
a small thing I like about my phone (Xperia 1 V) is that when I go to use the camera, I can feel a little vibration as it activates Tech should feel like it Does Things when you use it, gives it a little character. It's why people like clicky buttons and haptic feedback, you need the tactile feels

My favorite part about getting a new phone is going through and disabling all the AI slop features. Whee! I got a Motorola Razr 70, because I like the flip form factor (mostly because the new Sony Xperia 1 VIII doesn't include a few key US 5G bands), but I may just return it for another Xperia 1 V
My personal one is newer than my work one. I rock a Sony Xperia 1 V. I really do love the device, but I absolutely loathe the fact that i'm on a call and i go to multitask and it shuts off my phone.
