I've had a Synology DS923 for the past few years, and it's been rock-solid. This link seems to be for the currently-supported equivalent.

While i get the whole homelab thing is exiting and a great learning experience, it's simply not worth the time and effort for the majority of people. I have a DS923+. [...] I use it for OneDrive and Google Drive backup. I use it for Office 365 and Google Workspace backups. And because it is always-on, I use it as the exit node for my Tailnet.
Beefier models (I have a DS923+ with the RAM bumped up to 32GB) can run Docker containers, too. I have all kinds of things running on mine.
Yeah I got a Synology DS923+, can recommend it, it's a fun little piece of kit and definitely better for my soul when it comes to backups.
I have a DS923+ and it's been great as a combo storage device and low-powered Docker host for homelab stuff. But if I had to replace it, I would break it apart into pure storage (like the Ubiquiti device) and a mini PC to run as a server.
