Prusa MK4

Almost a year later, with our son back from college for the holiday, we have completed building the Prusa MK4 3D printer that he got as a kit last year. Crazy how much better the printer tech has gotten over the last few years!

I had a Makerbot 2X in 2014 and it required constant janitoring every time I wanted to print. I built a Prusa MK4 this spring; it calibrated itself and printed a great looking piece right from the get-go. The difference is night and day.

While this is true and I own a Prusa MK4, they're so behind it's not even funny.

I just bought the prusa mk4 kit+enclosure, spent 20+ hours building it, and now I can’t stop printing upgrades for it(mostly the enclosure). I sealed the enclosure a bit, did the squash ball feet mod for the printer(it’s silent now), and I’m currently printing this:

Did you know that Prusa Mk4 printers have a touchscreen? I DIDN'T. I've been using this printer for years, and only JUST found out that it has a (disabled in the settings) touch UI.

After yet another layer shift, I've decided to scrap the SRMTHFG Super Robot print for the time being, as I have other projects that need priority at the moment. Really disappointing, especially since it's been a long time since I've had this sort of problem with my Prusa MK4.

This is one reason I bought the Prusa Mk4 instead of a Bambu.

The A1 is pretty close to magic, but I think it’s fairly close to the capability of the Prusa Mk4 (which is more expensive of course). I use mine in LAN-only local mode and use Orca slicer so it’s not connected to Bambulans cloud.

I got a Prusa MK4 and it does a fantastic job. The only thing that sucks is that it can only do 1 color at a time without switching the filament mid print.
