Same here, I bought it when it came out in one of those nice carton boxes. It was rather buggy and hard to play without a walkthrough. The characters, the music, the story, the dialog, it's all so memorable and easily makes up for those bugs and hard puzzles. I played the remaster when it came out on PS4 as well, still great, but perhaps that's just the nostalgia.

The thing is really that even entry level gaming is getting expensive. I was considering building a pc and everything is expensive, I was going to replace the disk of my ps4 thag I bought used for 100$ and the 1tb ssd costs 150$

I'm keeping my ps4 as long as the hardware still runs because at least I can still buy discs for it. I have a nice collection of high-replay-value single player games. I know discs are just physical licenses at this point in time, not actual software on disc like the old school days. [...]

So many downright wild anti-consumer things happening in the last 10 years and studios have completely lost sight of how to keep themselves out of bankruptcy.

If it's anything like the PS4, you might be able to fix this by running a HTTP proxy using Squid and configuring that on the PlayStation. There's something really funky about Sony's networking on them, and configuring a squid proxy for my PS4 vastly sped up my downloads. I tried to find an article covering this but I've had no luck, so I'm just going off memory here, but I'm pretty certain that's all that was required.

I’d say something like a PS4 is future proof. $350 got like 10 years of modern software.

I don't think Dreams gets enough credit because it came out at the end of the PlayStation 4's life and it didn't get a lot of marketing, but it absolutely is fantastic. I have got good results with Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 cameras (which also have a mic). They are available for $15-20 on ebay.

I own HEN jailbroken PS3 Super Slim (after previous Slim died on me, RSX most likely) and honestly I am not even interested in PS4 and PS5 jailbreak, PS3 can play PS1 and PS2 games, PS4 can't. The biggest reason I don't care about jailbreaking PS4 which should be my next upgrade, I play with kids games on split screen TV or they play by themselves and sadly these are produced less and less these days with everyone expecting others to play alone over internet, which ain't fun at all, if you just wanna sit at TV and play all together in 3 people (wife is not into gaming). PS3 was peak PS split-screen gaming and peak PS compatibility with previous consoles.

Reminds me of mortal kombat X on the playstation 4. [...] Full screen ads you have to click past just to get to the main menu, even more ads on the main menu once you get there, paywalled off characters and moves, time gates, etc. I can't imagine paying full price for a game and putting up with that shit. Not just Nintendo. The PlayStation 4 controller had that touchpad in the middle that also clicked in to act as a button. I played a lot of games that used it as a button (usually to open a map, or something) and don't remember a single game that used it as a touchpad.

The PlayStation 3 is the primary reason I maintained ownership of discrete dvd/Blu-ray players and never got into the PlayStation ecosystem. There were a couple PS3 games I was interested in and if they had run on the PS4 I would have owned a 4 and thus likely a 5
