Pixel 7

My phone is a couple of years old at this point. A Pixel 7 was the newest i think. I don't care about cameras, I don't care about specs. [...] My phone would have a screen time of a few mins per day. I can't stand doing anything on these tiny touch screens or browsing the web on a phone screen.

Isn't Pixel 10 the first one with fully supported desktop mode? I remember I was very confused when buying a Pixel 7 to replace my (then 3 year old) Huawei P30 Pro, and the inferior camera + lack of desktop mode made it feel like a net downgrade.

I've had my Pixel 7 since 2022. You bet your ass when it comes time to replace it I'm buying the last generation's phone for cheap. "Latest and greatest" isn't exciting anymore, it's just an overpriced status symbol. [...]

Last night at 4:00 AM, my Pixel 7 woke me up with Zoom's native voice prompt "Recording in progress", with the green mic indicator active on screen. My phone was idle on my nightstand out of reach and no Bluetooth device was connected. No Zoom account signed in and no active meeting. Pixel 7 is definitely good enough if you don't have special needs. I'm writing this from a 6a right now.

I recently upgraded from the Pixel 7 to the 10. Nothing but regret - the phone isn't worse, but it's not better either, and I had to reinstall everything. Why did I do this?

That's weird, especially with the exhaustive details you provided there. I've rarely had any connection issues with Google Pixel (7 currently) and Debian with Plasma 5 or 6 on x86 / 64 platforms.

It's up to the device. If I have an alarm for the morning my pixel 7 slow charges over the night so that it's full when the alarm goes off. Modern charging standards give all the control to the client device.

Last week my phone, my brain, quit charging. It's a Pixel 7, cracked screen, served its time. But I NEED my phone. I carved a toothpick & cleaned out the port & got it to charge. [...] Three cables, no charge.

In your shoes, I'd be looking at factory refurbs of flagship phones from a couple/few generations back. A Pixel 7 was my daily driver for years, and unlocked ones can be had under $200. It's also supported in LineageOS if you're seeking to de-Google your life.

I finally recorded a 25 minute take I can work with and edit down coherently, and now my phone is holding it hostage because I still can't transfer files by USB from my Pixel 7 to my computer, and of course it's taking hours to upload to backup, and will take ages to download, too

yeah, I bought a pixel 4 back in the day because they didn't have vendor shovelware now google wants to update the vendor slopware of my pixel 7, though I keep swiping the update notifications away :/

My Pixel 3A breaking was the worst thing that has happened to me phone-wise because I got a Pixel 7 to replace it. Not only is Google an even bigger piece of shit now, the screen on it is just lifting off for no discernable reason.

I went from Pixel 7 to 10 pro recently after a mishap with my phone, and I'm not gonna lie all these updates and the phone itself is tempting me to get off the pixel train.

@denzilferreira I bought a second hand Pixel 7 and installed eOS myself. So does that mean the "bootloader", whatever that is, is not locked? In any case, Swish and BankID work fine for the time being.

I got my Pixel 7 new on eBay... just make sure you buy one that has been purchased directly from google (I think there are notes about this on GrapheneOS support website) bsky.app/profile/moch...

I had considered upgrading my phone but I am sticking with my Pixel 7 because every new phone has AI slop built into the OS.

I bought a pixel 7 phone so I could get updates right away. Now I want to have a phone that doesn't update at all because it's all just AI garbage & terrible new icons.

I accidentally washed my phone in the washing machine and it came out just fine. I talk trash about the pixel 7(flag ship) but if this isn't a demonstration of reliability idk what is.
