Pixel 6

I had to upgrade my 2021 iPad 9gen to a newer model to actually make is reasonably usable. So I am not sure about recent track record for Apple. My 2021 Pixel 6 works well for my mother and is getting updates.

This is great, and I'm not knocking it, but every time I see these apps it reminds me of my phone. My 2021 Google Pixel 6, when offline, can transcribe speech to text, and also corrects things contextually. [...]

Same here, I bought my current smartphone, a Pixel 6, two or three years ago for 200 dollars on eBay, and it arrived in pristine condition. Super small bump on one of the frame edges, not a single scratch on the display though now there are many, of course, I'm not that careful and the phone is cheap enough not to be too upset. A few years ago I traded my huge Google Pixel 6 for a 3 inch Uniherz Jelly. It's not perfect, as I still spend a lot of time on Reddit and HN on the tiny screen while commuting, but it's moved the needle for me.

Honestly, no Google pixel has had this camera bar design in some fashion for the last 4 years The pixel 6, 7 8,9,10 and now the 11 and I've had most of them (except the pixel 7) and I've never scratched the camera bar not a single time It's very durable unless somebody's very clumsy

I made the same mistake after being burned by the PinePhone, buying a heavily discounted Pixel 6 to test various Android forks, which eventually included GrapheneOS. I quickly knew I'd found home upgraded to a 9 Pro XL.

I've used the eBay app on various Pixels running GrapheneOS since the Pixel 6 without issue. In the Owner profile, in a secondary profile, in a Private Space in the Owner profile, installed via Play, installed via Aurora. I'm not saying yours works when it doesn't, but there may be something else going on.

My biggest issue with lawnchair (and most launchers really) is that they all are horribly glitchy on my Pixel 6, and also break the app drawer / switching feature. I literally just want a vanilla pixel experience, but be allowed to change the search engine on the home screen searchbar... This got me into the weeds on the widget and launcher ecosystem and they're all very bad.

Yes that's all I do, official LineageOS image for Pixel 6 (I bought it used on eBay). I haven't tried it but apparently Aurora Store also supports login with your Google account, which means you can download apps you've paid for on the Play store directly.

My Pixel 6 just broke, and after 15 years of using Android (I still miss that Nexus One trackball!), I’ve finally been convinced to move to iOS. If I have no options left and must live in a walled garden, I suppose I’ll choose the one with nicer flowers.

The looks are what they are, but if that wide shelf will mean the phone doesn't wobble when placed on a table, that is a good usability improvement. One of the small things I missed when moving from a Pixel 6 to an iPhone was the ability to not feel compelled to pick it up in order to use it.

the AI integration on google phones is just amazing Genuinely curious, what's your favorite aspect of AI on the Pixel? I'm on a 9 pro, coming from a Pixel 6 and a Pixel 3 before it. I don't think I'm ever using AI on this thing, so I'm interested in hearing where it turns up for you.

Yeah, many of my phone apps have been like that. What's dumber is the whole point of my phone, the Pixel 6, was to do everything onboard for assisting with voice dictation and what not... [...]

Aside from a few Frame rate drops and stutters, Pokémon Champions seems to run well enough on my phone (Pixel 6), even on Rank Double Battles.

My experience with a Pixel 6: + Doesn't have the same compatibility issues Termux has, so I can install things like bun.js and npm packages with native bindings (e.g. database connectors) - Can't edit text selection, which makes it difficult to copy text - Can't paste text - Frequently restarts and loses all progress while switching apps I can't say much about the battery because I just haven't used it enough to tell the difference. My daily driver is Rocky 10, but my control plane is a Pixel 6 on the ATT network but I control almost nothing on that layer. It is why I have been moving most of my core workloads off SaaS and back to local.
