I think both things are true - people overestimate the level of support provided by AWS, but also re-building the laundry list of stuff OP did in-house to save $24k/year seems onerous. But the idea that AWS provides some sort of white glove 24/7 support is laughable for anyone that's ever run into issues with one of their products...

No, the previous version was the absolute worst of them all. Keeping in mind I have had this OnePlus 7 pro since 2019, that previous version screwed me so hard and constantly broke. Here are my thoughts as of current.

I get it, but you’re not in violation if you never pass those logs to anyone. GDPR is intentionally obfuscated and made scary by people who have an interest in others thinking the regulation is onerous and silly (so that it is eventually changed/removed). The regulation is not very hard to read, I would recommend you do it if you haven’t and boils down to: “don’t pass on (process) information without informed consent, if someone requests that you remove their account you should do so- and also don’t keep records around, and do your best not to let anyone access personal information”, the last one is technically unenforceable, but exists to prevent people leaving open access to data processors and bypassing consent more than anything else. A secondary benefit is that people take access controls a little more seriously by forcing breach disclosures. Even the cookie banners are not needed unless you’re setting cookies for data collection, especially for third-parties! There is a distinct irony in that all the online simplifications (“gdpr for dummies”, “the 7 things to comply with for gdpr”) are misleading and harder to read than the actual text of the regulation. EDIT; I was foolish to post this during the peak time for US people. It feels like the Americans want the GDPR to be perceived as a pain.

I had 2 OnePlus devices in the past 7 years, and I had a great experience with both. Very stable, nice UI, no hardware/batery issues, very responsive. I don't know if I trust Google to make decent hardware. I am highly suspicious of Pixel phones.

OnePlus 7 has it's flaw but I still love it cause for the price it's great. I bought the 8/256 varient for RS 27000. I don't think for this price anything else even compares

This is likely just landlords cashing out in a hot market and people living in the house they bought instead of renting. There is precious little evidence that regulation was invlved. The dynamic that makes it economically lucrative for a landlord to cash out, also makes it illogical for a different landlord to buy. What onerous regulations can you cite enacted between 2019 and 2024 would explain a mass exodus of landlords better than a booming housing market. I won't even address the first part of your comment since it distorts the actual letter of the law so much as to not be good faith. I get what you are saying. I think that some forms of regulation are too onerous. Requiring people to keep copies of business paperwork for three years (most of the examples they ask for are things the IRS already wants you to keep for 7 years) isn't onerous. You do a disservice to your argument by acting like a modification to an existing law is going to ruin small landlords.

FWIW, that answer (to the second link, after edit) is really old, and you can do string.firstRange(of: substring) since Swift 5.7. The top answer to your third question gives a pretty good explanation of why Swift string indices work the way they do (as well as showing nicer ways to spell a lot of the operations on them), which mostly addresses the first and third questions. It really seems that your last link is just asking for the inout modifier; I'm not sure why that one is especially confusing. Obviously, there's always stuff that can be further improved, but none of these are especially onerous (once you get past the "string indices are not just integers" step, at least--for people who really just want to pretend the world uses ASCII or work with UTF8 bytes directly, string.utf8 may be an nicer interface to use).
