Nokia 6300 4G

I tried using a Nokia 6300 4G for a while a few years ago, because I don't use phones for much else than phone, SMS and a bit of Wikipedia. I had a terrible experience, nothing worked correctly, basic, fundamental apps such as phone, contact, alarms, had lag spikes of over a second for any action and randomly crashed, it had no CJK support (kind of a big deal for me, and like 20% of the world)... Some apps worked remarkably well, but having Youtube work better than messages is kind of pointless given the sVGA screen size. [...] I tried developing a bit for it (apps are a simple html+css+js package), but at the time publishing to their app store required integration of their advertising solution, which absolutely sucked (in 6 month of use, I was never served any other ad than "hot MILFs in my area"), which meant that neither commercial nor OSS apps would target the platfom. Not gonna lie, been using this phone for over 2 years now, and it's pretty bad. I love the design, the buttons, the layout, etc. [...] after a while, the texting becomes incredibly laggy, even if I empty my inbox. I honestly don't even text on it very much anymore as it is incredibly unreliable for putting the letter down you mean to put down, For example- to type "A" you would click the 2 button once. However, sometimes, I click it once and out comes a "B" Or you're trying to type an "N" which is two clicks on the 6 button, and suddenly, it types a 6. [...] I cannot type out a text without looking at my phone which is my main reason I enjoy a candybar design. Furthermore, you NEED to cover the charging port with tape or a sticker, because they did not seal it tight enough, there's a huge gap between the microusb and the hole for the port, dust gets under your keys and then you CAN"T press the buttons. [...] The calling is great though, apart from a really drab speaker phone. people can not hear me when I put it on speaker. [...] EXCELLENT battery life. [...]

We have been using the 6300 4G for about 2 years now, and I love the features, but It would be worth mentioning a few issues: 1. KaiOS is slow. [...] Predictive text entry is buggy. [...] If you don't need Assistant or Whatsapp, I recall the 225 being more snappy to use.

I write a fair amount, and when its time for that, I use a laptop - I've got to have a keyboard. So I use a phone as a phone these days (shocking, no?), The 6300 [unlike most smart phones] slips in the pocket comfortably and is not a bother. That in mind, the ability to use wifi or hot spot [the latter being problematic to 3g design], this phone meets my needs perfectly. [...]

As a user of the Nokia 6300 4G, here are my thoughts: - I used this phone for around 2 months now, as some kind of "digital detox" ;) I was waaaay too much on YouTube and TikTok, and this phone helped me reducing my hours on those platforms immensely, so that's good. :D - the build is surprisingly lightweight and plastic-y. I wouldn't say exactly cheap tho, and you definitly get used to it after some time. (the phone also makes some kind of creak-sounds when you try to bend it, which only adds to that plastic-y feel .. [...] What i don't like is the position of the power-button and the absence of volume-keys. [...] (you always have to navigate to the homescreen just to adjust the volume or screen-brightness and then go back to the app you were on...) - the screen is bad. I have nothing else to say than that.😂 Comming from an 1080p Smartphone-Screen, it was DEFINITLY a BIG downgrade. [...] :) But this phone would benefit from a better screen SO MUCH. - The camera isn't great, but that's to be expected. [...] The phone sometimes just randomly disconnects from the Network and does not re-connect before rebooting. [...] :) (however, there is also a bug on 2G/3G where, when you were connected to WiFi and then switch over to Mobile data, it doesn't automatically use mobile data, you have to enable flight mode, wait until it's disconnected from the network, and then disable it again. [...] ;) ) - The phone is terrible at remembering WiFi-Networks. [...]

The banana hacker root is quite doable there's some good tutorials. It requires a PC. Basically you download an internal page from the phone which has all the instructions on what can be installed and what can't be. You edit this file to allow apps to be uninstalled or better still hide them. I've uninstalled the games but I've hidden YouTube because the only way to get the apps back is to do a factory reset which I'd rather not do. I did all this with the Nokia 8110 not sure if the instructions are different with this new Nokia but they should be info about this. The thing that got me was that YouTube was just as addictive on a tiny little phone as it was on a smartphone.

I had one but lost it after three month with it and got a 2720 instead. I didn't like the keyboard and some times the phone lagged really much. I have a much better experience with my 2720 than my 6300.

I have a Nokia 6300 4G Dual SIM KaiOS phone that I can use as a 4G router for larger devices but has good battery life as a feature phone.

Firefox OS is available on phones today, just rebranded as KaiOS. I have a Nokia 6300 4G, it works fine for what I want: A small dual SIM phone with good call quality and a 4G router when away from home. Any apps are a bonus though Meta recently withdrew the WhatsApp one.

Some KaiOS ones do. I got a Nokia 6300 4G a week ago, not tested the hotspot functionality yet but am happy with the other features of it.

For me, I don't really have much of a choice. It's a nice KaiOS phone that works on Boost Mobile. What more do I need?

I have the 3310 3g. I was so disappointed that i bought the wrong version as it only does data connectivity. So this is so cool!

Nokia never goes wrong when it comes to simplicity and ease of use. I have this phone as a backup but mainly use it as my music device for my mp3 collection. No complaints so far after 2 months of use.

Just bought this phone because I am not much of a smart phone person, and would rather do most of my stuff on the computer. As a minimalist who just want to go back to the basics with some online aspects, this is more than enough for me.

so i got this phone but whenever im not connected to wifi the cellular data just doesnt work & idk why, i just switched my sim card from my old phone, its at&t & works for calls & regular texts but i cant connect to whatsapp when im not on wifi, is there a way to fix my cellular data to work on it

hey there, i got this and love it. the keys seems hypersensitive though, they do double and triple numbers with on keystroke. is there a way to adjust this. thanks! and any forum to chat with other 6300 users

How the hell do you set up the voicemail hot key to your own voicemail number. I have not found anyway to program the correct number to this device (using the 1 voicemail hot key). It seems defaulted to my US version as '186'.. and makes having the speed dial key with the voicemail key USELESS. Witch makes this a big flaw.

as someone who owned the OG 6300 back in the day, this 4g variant gives me nostalgia. just little disappointed that the back isn't like OG mixture of glossy body and a metal removable back

[...] I just bought my new 6300 4g, and I am wondering what is the best way to transfer my contacts from my iPhone 8 to the Nokia. iPhone doesn't allow you to transfer contacts directly onto your SIM so I exported them as Vcard file and put them in a mini sd card. The Nokia is taking forever to import them from the sd card to the point that maybe that's not the way to do it? any suggestions?

I give this a 6.5 to 7 out of 110.The phone can have slow downs, the GPS doesn't work in 4G, can't send mms, and the alarm periodically has issues. On the other hand it has WiFi, the Google apps work and it has all the basic things for a phone.
