Good to see a good D6 review! I’ve been shooting Sony mirrorless primarily over the last 3 years but my old D500 & D4s are still my go-to bodies for all outdoor sports assignments. Love my Nikon DSLRs for their performance and responsiveness and I appreciate the lag free experience of an OVF!

I’ve had all of the Nikon cameras since the D2 and the D2 X right up to the D6. I have to met the D5 and the D6 are both excellent cameras. They take phenomenal images and with today’s Lightroom and Photoshop and Nick software you can ask for anything.

I shot 15k images last weekend on 3 batteries - switching out daily even though the battery I was replacing still had juice in it. I am not sure mirrorless cameras have that great a battery life.

A delightful elocutionist , a fair personal assessment on a tool for high action sports .I regarded the exercise to establish the price that would interest the reviewer seemed too personal and superfluous. Note, I own the D6 and shoot the Nikkor 500mm f5.6 fresnel and love the setup for horse racing.A real killer in C 3D mode. FYI, I did subscribe- Thanks

The D6 is a low light monster to put it mildly! Many of us want that low light ability that this camera provides that mirrorless can't at this point in time. Not too happy about this review, you simply can’t compare these rugged Abrahams tanks to all of those plastic not-so fantastic mirror-less fragile camera’s. My old D3 even performs better in battery life, output, roughness,reliability, stability and ergonomics. If you shoot for a hobby or a vacay sure use a Z5/6/7 or Canon R5 ( not longer than 20 minutes or it could burn your house/car down ) if you are a pro shooter and you shoot 300 pics x day like i do no way in hell I could or would/ should consider a toy mirrorless camera. The D6 is simply a beast of a camera with a great autofocus and a great 20 MP sensor that is more than enough.

I am so happy I have D6 camera inside D5 body :D it has been 4 yers I have still got Nikon's latest technology :D They probably spent more time making promo videos than improving new D6 features.

Will probably buy a D6. I love my D5 but I feel like the D6 improves on the D5 in a lot of ways and will probably make my workflow that much smoother.

At least BRP (the system behind Runequest) and d6 are actively developed and there are games, new and old, using them. They are also rather popular, at least if one browses rpg.net. T&T I don't know. I think there is a new edition coming along?

I am glad I bought the D5 and won’t regret this ever. Someone inside Nikon is possibly working for Canon and Sony combined

Even though many people have dismissed D6 as a failure, yet I believe it’s an excellent camera for the intended users. I believe in Nikon and in their quality of products. PS: very nice and fair review of the D6!

20 years later after the D1 was introduced they still couldn't dampen that loud shutter. I used D1-D5 and switched to Sony. I miss the Nikon image but do not miss that the lawnmower of a shutter.

Thanks Snap chick. The D6 is no good for wildlife or landscape. It is fantastic for photojournalism, weddings, portraits and sport. I have owned the F5, D3, D4, D5. It is loud and heavy so I also own a mirrorless for those quiet moments. A DSLR is way better than a mirrorless in the studio. Try shooting iso 100 at f8 with a model lamp and mono block, The mirrorless needs to be artificially lit....yuk!

Neat list and several that haven't been read about personally all that much. The GNS (game, narrative, sim) Theory from Burning Wheel's at least a deconstruction of RPGs to consider although there have already been several critiques written of self limiting RPGs based on taking those as the end-all of the experience. Apocalypse World's also a fairly cool choice (that might actually work quite well with other themes) based on the "setting is fleshed out during character creation." A lot of games definitely run into that issue where it feels like you're just wandering around in somebody else's sandbox, and there's not all that much input into the actual world itself. Somewhat counter to that, a few that might have been interesting for inclusion, yet which often feature other people's settings. - Star Wars (WEG or FFG). WEG version was one of the first to try tackling really big stuff fighting really small stuff. And the d6 system worked fairly smoothly for gradual progression. The FFG version had a cool implementation of Force Points, and being able to influence rolls and change results as long as the usage of the Force Points was appropriate for that style of Force user. Both are also notably for being more like encyclopedias of Star Wars, that often cover parts of the setting in incredible detail that might have only been superficially glanced at in canon films / television or quasi-canon extended literature. - Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay: Rogue Trader. Interesting from my own perspective simply because it takes the standard part of most roleplaying games, that the players are exceptional members of society, and almost inverts that idea. The players are still "somewhat" exceptional, yet most of the actual main story "cool" stuff, was kept pretty far away (namely, roleplaying a Space Marine). You're pretty much just a ship captain (or the operational crew) and you're a long way from being stomped on by a titan or ripped apart by a bloodthirster. - White Wolf extended (

After "1. e4 e5 2." you can't go Nxd6+. For all kinds of reasons. You haven't got your knight out yet. Even if you had, it couldn't get to d6. Even if it could, there's nothing there it could take. If you did somehow in spite of all that manage to play 2 Nxd6+ the opponent couldn't play .... Bxc3+ because they haven't got their bish out. Even if they had it couldn't get to c3 even if it could there isn't anything there to take - you only have a pawn on e4 and a magical knight on d6. Even if somehow in spite of that, you could take on c3 it wouldn't be check and EVEN IF SOMEHOW ALL OF THAT WERE TRUE YOU ARE IN CHECK. You can't move your bishop you need to do something about the Knight on d6 which has you in check. All the rest of it is similarly gibberish. I'm used to model training garbage but this is in no sense AGI. It's beyond nonsense to call it that.
