I have a 2021 M1 Pro MacBook Pro that I use every day, and I don't hear the fans...at least not yet. I wonder how my situation differs from Christian's.
My favorite memory of my M1 Pro MacBook Pro was the whole sensation of “holy crap, you never hear the fans in this thing”, which was very novel in 2021. I had that same "wow, no fan" when I got my M1 Mac (still have my 2014 Intel MBP and the fans come on almost immediately) this dang thing still seems to just shrug at basically anything I throw at it. Unfortunately, this year I started playing with stable diffusion stuff, while it might be possible to optimize, what I have (automatic1111 and comfyui), is slow and my fans come on. Slow = 6x to 12x slower than friends with gaming PCs.

My M1 Pro MacBook Pro is only just now occasionally feeling a little slow and showing me a beach ball occasionally but I’m being super picky due to new machine FOMO and it is the best laptop I’ve had by a country mile. Still, I can’t justify an upgrade to myself!! Surprising single core numbers notwithstanding !

Damn impressive if true, but I’ll be honest, I still don’t feel the need to replace my M1 iPad Pro or my M1 Pro Macbook Pro. They’re both more than amazing for my use cases - though if Apple suddenly took gaming seriously, like extending Rosetta to act as a translation layer for Windows games a la Proton, I’d gladly throw down for an M5 Ultra when it’s released.

I'm sure it's not the fault of the game, but this straight-up crashed my machine after about a minute of play. Screen froze, everything went unresponsive for a couple seconds, then I got about half a second of a pure magenta screen, and my machine rebooted. M1 Pro Macbook Pro, Sonoma 14.4.1, Firefox 125.0.1.

Fast, silent and 95% of the time I don't even think about battery life. [...] Related, also maybe my 12.9" iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard cover. It's a 2018 with a dying battery but it makes a great book reader, video viewer, spare monitor, etc. With the keyboard case it's decent for writing or remote terminal work. [...] I've got a cheap standing desk but meh - mostly sit at it but being able to change height even for sitting is nice. Cheap-ish Tempur-Pedic office chair works pretty well for me. Creative Pebble Pro speakers were a big improvement over my previous ones with analog input and a subwoofer I kept kicking. Anker C200 webcam and Audio-Technica ATR2100x-USB microphone were cheap upgrades for calls. A clamp-on cupholder that keeps my drink stable and away from possible spills onto my MacBook is a win. Yes, I meant that Intel and AMD laptops have caught up to battery life, due to the chips. I have both an M1 Pro MacBook Pro and an Asus lunar lake laptop. The M1 battery life is… good. [...] The lunar lake laptop has better battery life. The base M1 is probably much better, but I still think these lofty 20 hour battery life claims from Apple are, well, lofty. [...] But as soon as you’re using all the antennas, the battery life goes down a lot. Bluetooth especially drains battery life.

still m1 family is the only one that fully(not acutally) supported apple silicon by asahi? I have m1 pro macbook pro btw
