Logitech C920

I've had my Logitech c920 for some thirteen years and it refuses to die so I can finally excuse getting an upgrade. Decent 1080p quality with low light boost and okay-ish white balance. Cheap and dependable though

I use a Logitech C920, I've had the same camera for nearly 6 years and it works great.

I've been looking into stuff for streaming and I'm tickled that the Logitech c920 I bought at the beginning of 2016 is still considered standard. Like I might spring for a StreamCam but if the thing I paid $50 in 2016'll do it, I might save myself the $150 and maybe get a desk light.

ideally would love to level up my audio and camera because I’ve been using the same BlueYeti mic + Logitech C920 webcam since 2020, but audio comes first 🙂‍↕️

I timestamp everything twice: once with the hardware clock (if available, like for the realsense camera) and once within my robot stack once it gets read from the device (using time.monotonicns()). I'm glad you agree ;) Obviously in this case my setup is... overkill! But I think you can do a lot better than the average laptop camera with a Logitech C920 or Brio, and a Yeti Snowball or similar - I started there and worked my way up to where I am now, and was lucky enough to have been donated a rather nice DSLR along the way.

The hyper X mic has been legit since I got it I think it’s $130 , The Logitech C920 is a pretty good 1080p WebCam that’s cheap, her lights you can literally go with anything that fits your desk

I use a Logitech C920 When I bought it years back, it was considered one of the better webcams for new streamers

i put the FCP up against a logitech c920 under decent lighting conditions and it lost. i felt like i was going insane so i got my partner, who knows nothing about any of this, to double check me and they assumed the C920's feed was obviously the more expensive one

I've had good luck with the Logitech C920/C922 models with my MacBook Pro M1. Their 4K Pro webcam is probably equally good, I just haven't used one personally.

I got my Logitech c920 a long time ago and it is CONSISTENT. You can likely find something cheaper, but you'll want high FPS over high resolution. 720p60fps is a good sweet spot.

The quite popular Logitech C920 webcam used to natively support H.264, but they dropped it in a model revision a while ago, because "nearly every computer offered in the market features a chipset that can efficiently encode high definition video at 1080p" [1]. I've used that very camera (without the accelerator) on an RPi 4 myself, and the only way to get acceptable quality was by using the Pi's H.264 hardware encoder. [1]

I'll add to the chorus of Logitech c920 users. It's reliable and reasonably priced for what you get, which were my criteria when I got it. Quality is fine for the occasional video chat, but caveat that I'm not sure if it would be my preferred choice for high-end use due to resolution limits.

I honestly didn't know that Nvidia had an OBS plugin. I've just been using the Nvidia broadcast app, It's my Logitech C920.

i use a webcam (logitech c920) so i can't help troubleshoot your exact issue, but have you tried adjusting your phone mount position? i have had much better results with the eye tracking specifically when my camera is mounted below my monitor looking up instead of clipped to the monitor looking down

One reason to opt out even though everyone says “they already have your picture 1000 different ways” is that these cameras are not normal cameras, they are stereoscopic close-range cameras that take a 3D image of your face. That takes facial recognition accuracy up to 95%+, from 70% or less on a normal photo. Interesting, I'm fairly sure the cameras at one US airport I was (maybe Salt Lake City?) were just bog standard Logitech C920 like my previous webcam. Do you have more information on the cameras?
