LG C2 OLED

I've got a 65" LG C2 OLED TV (from 2022) that I hacked with shortly after I purchased it (and before LG updated the firmware to prevent the hack). [...]

I used colorcontrol to enter the service menu of my LG C2 and disable all anti-burn-in features. No auto dimming, no auto picture level, no anti-logo, etc. The only one I kept is pixel shift because it's only noticeable if you're looking at the edge of the screen when it moves, it's a tiny movement. [...] When I'm gaming in HDR, I use filters to increase the exposure to get the maximum brightness range of the panel. Been using it like that for 8hrs/day for over 2 years now. Zero detectable hint of burn-in.

Got a LG C2 last year, set up the country to some one-weird-trick that I found out on Reddit and it gives me exactly zero BS. 10/10 so far.

I bought a LG C2 OLED Evo a few months ago and I love it. Avoid Samsung, we've had like 3 TV's have their backlights burn out.

While similar specs on slightly smaller monitor would be considerably more expensive. EDIT: I just checked and the 43" 144hz OLED monitors I can quickly find are $1500+, while the updated version of my screen, the LG C2 48", is on sale in a local shop for $600. This screen is a TV but it's still by far the best monitor I've ever had. The only minor problem is that low brightness and reflectivity of the screen means I had to reposition my desk, and it still becomes an issue for about 30 minutes every day when the sun moves to just the right position to bounce and reflect off the wall behind me on to the screen.

I've had the advertising settings disabled on my LG C2 for a while and yesterday I decided to browse the settings menu again and found that a couple new ones had been added and turned on by default. Good times.

I've got an LG C2 and you can't disable the Bluetooth, so anyone can try to connect to it. No service menu options too. I've not yet found out if cutting the WiFi/Bluetooth antennas is the only option.

I didn't have to do any cleartype tuning on my LG C2. But maybe since it's a TV they have room for conventional subpixel layouts.

Are you using your Shield as an HTPC? In that case you can use the upscaler built into a TV. I prefer my LG C2 upscale (particularly the frame interpolation) compared to most Topaz AI upscales.

I use LG C2 OLED's and I experience eye straining that I don't on LCD monitors. I haven't had the time to look into the cause.

Which model? My LG C2 had none of these issues. It also hasn’t been connected to Wi-Fi in a year, so maybe it’s an issue with the latest software.

This is what I'm using, Shield = HDMI = TV = Optical = Soundbar. There are some settings on the TV to enable external speakers over optical, which format is sent (Dolby Digital, etc), and which format is accepted (bitstream) that you may need set. The Shield also has settings for which signal is sends. Works well for me after configuring it and I get Dolby Digital 5.1 (ac3 5.1) from my Shield to my LG C2 to my soundbar over optical.

[...] rtings.com rates input lag on tvs (as well as how well they work as monitors). Most modern units have game mode and/or PC mode which I assume disables some processing to drive down lag. On my LG C2 OLED, changing the input type to "PC" results in a visible flicker (just one flicker) when the display is shifting into some new mode.

I guess thats a prefeence thing, outside of that ads I find LG is pretty good. I ditched my firestick when I got my LG C2 OLED

Really appreciate this link. I used a LG C2 as my monitor and I've been having trouble with HDR content in W11/Chrome for years. I always end up using Edge or otherwise for Youtube HDR, and this helped me debug.

I have the LG C2 OLED, and wish I got the C4. But it was Presidents' Day sale and they were out of the C4 Only thing I dislike about it is that I have analog sound system, and digital converters make it so you hear the square wave. It's a great TV.
