Kobo Libra 2

you’d have to pick it up used/2nd hand because they don’t make them anymore, but i picked up a kobo libra 2 last year and it’s been really perfect. easy to load stuff on, perfect size to hold, very easy to read off of (i got it primarily for eye + comfort reasons)

Love my Kobo Libra 2. I've had Kobos ever since I started using an e-reader about 15 years ago. I highly recommend them!

Rakuten hasn't been that terrible actually. But I don't really have any other service to compare to except for Kindle. I got a Kobo Libra 2 a couple of years ago, and now I want to trade it in for the newest Colour one.

A Kobo ereader is as open as I need it with koreader installed. The Kobo Libra 2 black and white is the best ereader I have ever had. (not the color version,,unfortunately a step back in reading quality for normal reading)

I gave up, bought a kobo libra2 that never saw an internet connection (you can find updated firmware online to download) and now just borrow epubs in the soulseek library.

Having a dedicated ereader helps a lot. I have Kobo Libra 2, the UI/UX/physical design just make reading so much more appealing

A Kobo would be a great choice. I use a Kobo Libra 2 and love it a lot more than my old Kindle Paperwhite that got stolen: The Kobo Sage is also good because it has an 8" screen. Standard eBooks offers kepub format for Kobo devices and files, they use their advanced Webkit-based renderer:

I also have a Kobo Libra 2 and sing it’s praises. I upgraded from an Oasis 2 and couldn’t be happier. When it comes to upgrade again, Amazon DRM readers will not even be looked at.

That's why I love my Kobo Libra 2. Physical buttons, sweet spot for size, easy to sideload or I can buy on Kobo on device/mobile/desktop or sync pocket or get library books from overdrive/Libby.

The Oasis is a great device with one fatal flaw: battery life. For some reason they nerfed the battery relative to the paperwhite so it lasts about a week instead of about a month. [...] I ended up with the Kobo Libra 2, which has all the same features as the Oasis but also has a month-long battery. [...] Includes some quality of life features beyond the Oasis, including auto color tone shifting of the front-light in the evening (cool to warm), being able to adjust the light by swiping up the left side of the screen, and more options for progress indicators / headers and footers than the kindle has. Kobo changes their lineup constantly, which means the Libra 2 has been replaced with a more expensive color version I haven't tried. Color on an e-ink screen is not an interesting feature to me, esp. not when it makes the device more expensive.

I have just bought the Kobo Libra 2 and I am very impressed, I have been using a Gen2 Kindle forever but finally decided I needed one with a backlight. Libra 2 is waterproof and seeing as I frequently read in the pool on holiday or in the hot tub etc this was a great feature for me. For your specific use case I would look at something like the ReMarkable or Supernote as they are almost A4 sized readers and would allow you to annotate the papers etc

I no longer have a Kindle to compare, but I'm very happy with build and lighting on my Kobo Libra 2. I've used Kindles since the Kindle 1, and there are some Kobo things that I don't like as well as Kindle, but it's a better-than-decent e-reader and I'm glad to be out from under Amazon's thumb.

I use a Kobo Libra 2 and I find it great. It replaced my Paperwhite. It's easy enough to side load apps if you want too (but I find that I don't - I just need it to read books and it does that well)

Have a look into the Kobo Libra 2 or Kobo Libra Color. I love my Libra 2, but they announced a e-ink one just after I bought it lol.

I LOVE it!! I had the original kobo Libra 2 and loved it and this is so much better I just have to get a compatible stylus to really be flying with it haha. Yes this is why I got mine I just think it's a superior ereader too

I got the Kobo Libra Color but coming from the Kobo Libra 2 I'm feeling very Eeeergh about the reduced sharpness of the screen. Genuinely thinking of trading it in for a Clara BW to give to my sister and keeping the Libra 2. Bummer because I really liked the idea of getting color eink :(((

I have a Kobo Libra 2 and really love it, they also have Kobo Plus which is pretty similar to Kindle Unlimited, navigation is a touch slow but still leagues over my Kindle.

i got a kobo libra 2 and i like it. the wireless sync situation blows, but otherwise fantastic.

this feels like a real "just get over it" situation but while my kobo libra 2 is incredibly perfect for books and manga, my phone and ipad are either too small or too big and unwieldy to be ideal for western comics... I wonder.. How dumb would I be to look into a dedicated holdable tablet for comics

So I just got a Kobo Libra 2, and deregistered my Kindle. Not sure where best to buy ebooks if not from Amazon, though…
