my iPhone XR is still going strong, 85% battery health and receiving OS updates. Wow. My 13 hit 79% battery health after only 2 years of use, so clearly Apple products aren’t immune from this phenomena either.

I have an iPod Touch from a bit before Covid, so 6 years old from 2019-ish - it stopped getting daily use when Covid and WFH hit, so it's battery is old, but still in reasonable condition. [...]

iPhone XR was released in 2018, and I got mine in 2019. It will still be supported by iOS 18, which is being released in 2024. 5-6 years of fully functioning hardware with official OS updates is much better than the Android phones I had before it.

Interesting that you have such problems with Amazon. I‘m using an iPhone XR (5,5 years old) and don’t have any problems using Amazon in the browser (Safari). And I’m on the latest iOS (17.4).

I bought a refurb’d iPhone XR 5 years ago for £550 and then replaced with a refurb’d 11 Pro for £300 2 years ago. I’ve found both phones to be reliable, but did make sure I bought from what looked to be reputable retailers. You do get what you pay for - think I’ll have to replace again next year

i got my iphone XR when that phone was new, so i guess it’s like 6-7 years old now. it was fine till i recently left a cracked screen protector on too long, and now there are two horizontal lines in the middle of my screen, but i still don’t see a need to replace it yet.

I agree. I bought an iPhone xR in fall 2019 and used it for six years, close enough, until cracks on the screen made it too difficult to read, then I upgraded to an iPhone 13. In the meantime, I was given a new 2025 iPad a few months ago, but still keep my old 2018 iPad around for reading ebooks.

Looks like my phone's about to die. It stopped charging via the port ages ago and now it's stopped charging wirelessly. It's the 2018 iPhone XR and I've had it 5 years and it's probably cheaper to get a new one second-hand than have it fixed, but I was perfectly happy with the thing ffs.

My iphone 14 broke, so I've been using my old iphone XR It was released in 2018! Still works ok, kind of slow loading things a lot Apple Maps surprisingly barely works, but Google Maps is fine

I had my iPhone XR (bought 2019) until last year. At that point an upgrade made it so slow it was barely usable, while the lack of further updates made it impossible to install or upgrade apps after the device and OS went EOL.

"Slow phone with slow animations" is a crazy assessment, I switched from Galaxy S7 to iPhone XR in 2018 because the Galaxy was (like every other Android I had) slow to do everything, applications would crash randomly and my phone would just give up and reboot without warning. [...]

I've got an iPhone XR with a chunky (highly protective) Speck Presidio case that's comfortably thicker than the camera protrusion and therefore lays 100% flat. As I comment from my iPhone XR Plus Air Max Ultra Extreme, it always annoyed me the 3rd generation of the iPad was officially named "the new iPad" in 2012, replacing the iPad 2. I have "the new iPad" in a drawer, but its last software update was released in 2016. It's not very "new" anymore, but that's its official name.

My iPhone XR I bought refurbished in 2019. It still works fine. The battery health is at 84%, same as when I bought it.
