iPhone X

In my experience, Apple phones are pretty good at not being obsolete. I gave my old iPhone X to my father who's still using it, 9 years later, with software updates to iOS. Compare that to the Google Pixel 2 (which came out in the same year), got it's last software update 3 years later.

I gave my 7 year old iPhone XS (which still works perfectly and fast, and gets updates) to my mum. The battery was at 70% so I decided to get a replacement. The local malls repair shop had a spare battery in stock - they fixed it while I bought groceries.

My iPhone X worked fine for 7 years, even without a battery replacement. [...] I wanted a larger screen and better zoom lens, so I upgraded earlier this year but I absolutely didn't have to and didn't feel any pressure from Apple to do so. [...]

Fast charge doesn’t seem to hurt. For me a year is nothing though, my phone is on its 4th year, my daughter has my old iphone X.

Even my "ancient" iPhone X does it so rarely, I don't lose any context. [...]

My iPhone Xs is about 7 years old now, and I haven't replaced the battery yet. I won't buy Apple or Google again though, it's GrapheneOS or bust next.

I finally ordered a new (used) phone cause my iPhone X doesn’t support anything newer than iOS 16 and my banking app is stopping its support for iOS 16 at the end of the year🧍🏻 which is a bit of shame cause otherwise this phone has had zero problems since I got it in 2021 and it still works perfectly

The ones I took out my Mid-Market apartment window looked pretty true to my eye. But I had an iPhone X, which was 3 years old at the time. Perhaps the correction had gotten worse in newer iPhones.

I keep my old iPhone X powered on as a handheld gaming device. It still gets software patches now and then. Funnily, even though the device is in its forsaken era, most of the applications I used to use daily still gets updates too. Not being able to update an app on it is a rarity.

Obviously not counting the Max/Plus/Mini lines, but the standard ones have had 6”-ish screens for almost a decade now (and the screen itself has increased in size, but that’s because they decreased the bezels), so they’ve hardly made a new phone that is larger than the one before since then. Personally, I quite like the size of the standard iPhones, fits in my pocket, can use it one handed well enough, and the display is big enough to comfortably view content. [...]

Hard agree but only because I think TouchID on the sleep/wake button sucks. The home button-less design and gestures introduced on the iPhone X were obviously designed in tandem and only work with FaceID. I have Touch ID disabled on all of my devices that have it because it's so damn annoying now.

I had the 12 mini (before it I had an iPhone SE, then iPhone X, then the 12 mini), which unfortunately did not work for me because the battery drained too fast. Really hope you're wrong and we do eventually get some more one-handed phones in the future, especially once battery tech evolves.

I was never aware of the issue, I thought my switch to an OLED phone (iPhone xs) just coincided with getting older and normal tired eyes of aging. But when I switched to a pixel phone my eyes began blurring and aching to an extent I started to research a bit and found that the pixel screens had extremely low Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) rate for screen dimming, apparently as a cost saving measure, and eye strain was a common complaint. I do not experience anything like it with desktop/laptop IPS screens. [...]

I had kind of accepted maybe I had brain damage or something when it came to typing on my phone recently. I pulled out my iphone X the other day and had the most validating feeling of "I can type on my phone again".

I've seen every new OS update leading to M1 Air performance degrade, at this point I'm pretty convinced Apple is doing this intentionally. My REDMAGIC Android phone is like this too and I love not having a stupid notch cut out of the screen. I've hated them since the very first time I saw a iPhone X. Can't believe such a ridiculous design defect infected Macbooks too :/

i think you’ll only appreciate upgrading your phone if you do it every 5-8 years. my last phone was Iphone X and i literally had to wait for it to completely break before getting another one 😂 then i got a 17 Pro and i was like ✨wow technology✨ LMAO

I recently discovered the 0.5 zoom on my new phone (I've had an iPhone X for like the last millenia) Pixel 9 much better for capturing baby man noses 🐆

The iPhone X was better than the 6-8, I think the screen filling the whole thing helped it out, but it was still too large for my liking. [...] I found it interesting that the intro of the Duo talked about how it had 90% of the screen of the iPhone 18, as a way to talk up how big it is. But yeah, spotlight is slow and the phone constantly runs out of storage, so apps need to be deleted before installing updates and least used apps are constantly removed. Came here to mention the same thing. Very well be on me, tho. I’m using the Brave browser (is it safari-powered?) and on iOS 18.7.9, which is the newest my old iPhone X supports.

For some reason, many years later, this specific photo still tickles me. Like ah yes, I'm at the beach, let's tenderly look at my iPhone X.

(I tried this on my ancient iPhone X and I have been unable to get anything to come up when I press on an image of my cat. I will keep working on it, but my phone might just have an operating system that is too old.)

Edit: I'm still using an iPhone X lol, my phone is too old! Yes!
