iPhone 11

I've had the same phone for over 6 years now (iPhone 11). It's a bit slower now, but I suspect that's more to do with software changes than anything else. In particular the battery is still in pretty good shape.

Apple phones are typically fully supported supported for 7ish years, and security updates for longer. For example the iPhone 6s, a ten year old phone, still received security updates this fall. My 6 year old iPhone 11 is still trucking along fine. I did opt for a new battery recently, but the old battery was still at 78%. [...]

I'll have to think harder to come up with the exact number, but I've had approximately 3 Android phones and 3 iPhones in my smartphone-career (changed phones more often in the beginning than at the end). iPhones just last longer (and retain value a lot longer), even when compared to high end Androids (I did research online & bought the recommended brands at the time, like Google Pixel). I currently use an iPhone 11 (6 years old model at the moment, bought slightly-used a few years ago when it was a fairly new model) and have no plan to replace it anytime soon. It is however very much a "rich people can afford to save money" boots-type situation.

I've been using an iPhone 11 for 4 years now (also, reminder: the 11 was launched 2 years prior to when I bought mine). I replaced the battery earlier this year as it wouldn't last to the end of the day any more but besides that it's showing no slowdowns or any other issues.

I never understood screen protectors. In 15 years I have never used a screen protector on any smartphone, and have also never had any scratches on the screen either. On average, I keep the same phone for 3-4 years (current phone is an iPhone 11, coming up on 6 years old).

Laughing because I’ve never deleted any pics off my phone since I bought my 256 GB iPhone 11 back in 2020 and still have about 137.9 GB free. Not even Live Photos can stop me from using old tech!

Still worth it! It’s one of Apple’s long-lasting iPhones, hence why it will still be getting the latest iOS update this September 2026. Comparing it to the iPhone 17, ofc the iPhone 11 lacks in a lot of areas of a current flagship. BUT it doesn’t mean that the iPhone 11 still can’t compete today. The 11’s camera, software and feels are still great considering how old the model/device is. I still have mine but at 63% battery health lol (but this is considering all the memories I’ve had over 6+ years). [...] But if it were bigger in storage, I’d still use my 11 as my daily driver. I just got a notice on my iPhone to renew my AppleCare. It expired in 2022! That means I’ve had this phone for 8 years? How time flies!

Still using the iphone 11 for five years now and it still runs smoothly. Though i only have 72% BH already, i always bring my powerbank. I will upgrade when this stops working 😅

I’m still using my black iPhone 11 since 2023 still going strong 💪 today (used to use a iPhone X before this)

I have had the iPhone 11 since 2019 and still good. Will most likely upgrade to the Fold as it’s rumored to come out soon

Finally upgraded last week to an air but the 11 was my driver for the past 6 years. It served me well and was really durable. One of my favorite iphones hands down

My iPhone 11 was my best iPhone that lasted me for three awesome years. Was better than my iPhone 8 and15 for sure.

Ive had my ip11 for 5 years, currently with 76% battery health and a camera that will not focus, it works super slowly and constantly crashes. About to let it go, will be missed.

I have also been using it for 6 years now. One of the finest phones ever. Going to upgrade to iPhone 16 Pro soon.

The iPhone 11 Pro was my main phone for 5 and a half years. Yup I'm a very slow phone upgrader. This phone never got very slow, and because I always charged it with a 5W charger, the battery health never went below 90%.

[...] Last year I was out hiking in the rain, and my aging (5+ years old) iPhone 11 got water inside it and started dying soon after (I'd been sailing/swimming with the phone and had exposed it to salt water, apparently that will wear down the seals if you do it enough.) In other words, I absolutely see the need for waterproof phones, even for ordinary people doing ordinary things, and am never going to buy one that isn't.

5 years and my battery health is still on 100% I use it everyday. My only problem is storage at the moment. But looking forward for an upgrade once a new model comes out so iPhone 15 can be cheaper as I am eyeing on that one hehehe

I've been using 11 pro for 6 years, aside from the fact that you need to at least charge twice a day, if you're not a heavy user the phone still works fine

Before my current 15 Pro that's sitting at 87% battery health and I've had it since October 19, 2023. I had the Red IPhone 11 that I got September 28, 2019 that I traded in for my current 15 Pro. My old 11 had 73% battery health and I got $213 in trade in credit towards my current 15 Pro. [...]

you can’t use Apple Car Play if you don’t enable Siri. It works for me, but I'm using wired carplay on an iphone 11 w/ios27. (In the US, Swapped to Siri Classic, then disabled it.) Looking around online it seems doing it wired can bypass the Siri requirement. Which may work in my case because in the Ford headunit I can force wireless projection to be off and blocked (including turning off the wifi for the headunit). So some cars might be forcing wireless Carplay and triggering the Siri requirement.

Kudos to Apple for still having their latest iOS run on hardware as old as iPhone 11, which was released 7 years ago. [...]

it's somewhat uncommon for people to actually buy their phones outright unless you make a lot of money Or like many of us, you buy cheaper phones outright for your prepaid phone plans. [...] Which is currently a used iPhone 11 I recently opened up to replace the battery.

The charging port might just need cleaning. I’m still using an iPhone 11 and the charging port was getting super unreliable. I cleaned it a couple of weeks ago - gently, with a toothpick and a flashlight, there was some lint stuck inside - and it’s worked perfectly since then.

Is Liquid Glass not just a means to slowly force old phones to be obsolete? - My iPhone 11 is fairly slow now and they’ve probably bought forward my next phone purchase by a year

In order to have my iPhone 11's battery replaced by my local apple authorised repair shop, inexplicably I have to leave my phone with them for days. Since the phone is old they have to order the battery from Apple and that could take up to a week, according to them. Of course it's impossible to stay without my phone for a week+ so my only option is to buy a new phone if I want to fix my battery capacity issues.

The durability of their products still surprises me. I still own and use iPhone 11 (still it is my first iPhone when I switched from Android). Still getting latest iOS updates and functioning very well and may last for 2 more years. [...]

I upgraded from an iPhone 11 to a 17 and was dreading having to sign in to my carrier’s web site to get an eSIM QR code. I was surprised to see that the phone migration process took care of that - at the end I had the new phone with an eSIM and my usual number, and the old phone with a deactivated SIM card. Super convenient.

My iPhone 11 still feels very much good enough (which I imagine must be terrible for Apple) I think Apple has come to terms with the fact that people are no longer upgrading their phones every 1-2 years. They are probably happy just to keep you in the Apple ecosystem where they can sell you apps, services, accessories, other compatible apple products - and hopefully get your repeat business when you do one day feel the need to upgrade.

“Thinnest” should be measured by the thickest slice for a given dimension. I have an iPhone 11 which also has a camera bump and the experience of typing while the phone is on a flat surface is laughably annoying. For a company that prides itself on design aesthetics, it is honestly an embarrassing miss.

I have iphone 11 and you can have battery replaced just fine. I did it few months ago and the phone became like new. I am not sure about Apple in US but if they won't do it then some third party will.

Im going to miss my iPhone 11 front camera forever. All of my friends would always tell ME to take the group selfies because the quality was so much better, I’ve noticed that newer iPhones front camera quality have like smooth face filter idk it looks so weird, this is the best front camera and it doesn’t always turn that night shift shi on😫

crucial to note that by “my phone” i mean “my iphone 11.” i upgraded to this one from a 6s. if not broke, why fix?
