[...] RTX 4060 is a RTX 2080 Probably, but I just put one in a small desktop for $280, not the $700 a 2080 cost new. [...]
[...] But it is fast I'm not a Lightroom user myself, but my mom is a photographer and uses Lightroom for all of her photos and at least on her PC, it became extremely slow and painful to use. And it's not like it's a super outdated system either, it has a Ryzen 5600G, RTX 4060, 32GB RAM, nothing too ancient... [...]
I have an RTX 4060 12gb vram. [...]
This is totally going to suck, but here's one option I was just suggested a few mins ago: For context, I was asking about running anything OpenClaw-friendly on my RTX4060 8GB VRAM. I know yours is a more involved use-case, but there's still some optionality here.
[...] Those signals are processed via reciprocal ranked fusion, re-ranked, and then give the search results. [...] Median retrieval latency was 22ms/27ms on oracle/s splits respectively, on a laptop with an RTX 4060. [...]
[...] My RTX 4060 can run qwen3:30b at a comfortable reading pace even though 2/3 of it spills over into system RAM. [...] Second answer: ask an AI, but prices have risen dramatically since their training cutoff, so be sure to get them to check current prices. Third answer: I'm not an expert by a long shot, but I like building my own PCs. [...] Strix Halo has a wider memory bus and so it's a good way to get lots of high-bandwidth shared system/video RAM for relatively cheap. [...] I was also considering doing a much hackier build with 2x Tesla P100s (16gb HBM2 each for about $90 each) in a precision 5820 (cheap with lots of space and power for GPUs.) Total about $500 for 32gb HBM2+32gb system RAM but it's all 10-year-old used parts, need to DIY fan setup for the GPUs, and software support is very spotty. [...]
[...] It’s a minimal, end-to-end implementation of a 25M parameter GPT-style model in pure PyTorch, designed to be trained from scratch on a single GPU Instead of heavy abstractions, it uses straightforward PyTorch while still implementing modern architectural choices like RMSNorm, SwiGLU, RoPE, and even MoE variants. [...] Curious if anyone here has used this (or similar minimal codebases) to test custom architecture modifications or train highly specialized small-scale models I'm currently testing the pipeline locally on a PC with an RTX 4060, and it's a great fit for this kind of hardware
I have a framework Desktop and it is a fine machine for gaming as well. It won't beat discrete GPUs but you can run Cyberpunk 2077 at max settings at 1080p and still be above 60fps. Edit: it does feel like a rtx4060 performance wise so it's not far from some discrete GPUs.
[...] Before the 1650 I had the 1060 in the same PC, and for a while I had an RTX 4060 in it as well (which I bailed on because the model emitted terrible coil noise). [...]
I just converted a 110 page book to wav in about an hour with a RTX 4060. [...] That is the main issue I have with audiobooks , the randomness of liking the voice actor or not almost matters as much as what the book says for me. [...] I have got so use to audiobooks that it is hard to actually sit and read a full book for me. [...]
I have an RTX 4060 with latest drivers, KDE, and Arch. Wayland works perfectly for me. Maybe Debian has some outdated packages that haven't caught up yet?
Before I started self-hosting my LLMs with Ollama, I imagined that they required a ton of energy to operate. I was amazed at how quickly my local LLM operates with a relatively inexpensive GeForce RTX 4060 with 8GB VRAM and an 8b model. The 8b model isn't as smart as the hosted 70b models I've used, but it's still surprisingly useful.
I had a laptop with a mobile GeForce RTX 4060 - it was a pain to run Linux on, mainly because of Nvidia. [...] Nvidia may be the leader in performance, but if it means you're stuck with Windows - I'd say it's not worth it.
[...] That sets an upper bound for the performance increase we can expect, does it not? [...] 45% faster rendering would get it up to about the performance of an RTX 4060 from what I'm seeing. [...] I don't play a lot of AAA games but my RTX 4060 can do 1080p @ 60-144fps at mostly maxed settings. [...]
Can someone tell my why when running OBS MARVELTokon is running like 💩even on low setting when my laptop has these specs. AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS (3.10 GHz) 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (8 GB) 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Yes, you need an NVIDIA graphics card. I got a new system last week. Specs as follows: ASUS B650M-PLUS ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 EVO OC AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 2x 64GB (2x32GB) CORSAIR DDR5
Honestly, at this point you're probably looking at a smaller model, for the Gemma series I'd go with Gemma 4 E4B with drafters, but that's just a hunch from using it on my laptop (where I do have a RTX 4060 M and 96gb ram). [...]
[...] Then at work, I got a MacBook Pro, and that's when I saw the difference. [...] The same with battery life, if you listen to apple fanboys you get the impression that battery life above 5h was simply unheard off until the M1 came along. I had a x200 in 2009 or 2010 that was giving me 10h+ in the large battery and I could even swap over to the smaller one to get another 6h (?) or so. I'm not some Apple fanboy—I've been using Arch Linux daily for the past month or two, and it's great. However, there isn't a day that passes without screen freezes during peak usage, and I need to reboot every day or two. This happens despite having 32GB of RAM, an RTX 4060, and a Ryzen 5 7600. [...] The only thing I can say to that is that in my experience nvidia drivers have become objectively worse over the last 2 years. [...]

I recently experimented with running llama-3.1-8b-instruct locally on my Consumer hardware, aka my Nvidia RTX 4060 with 8GB VRAM, as I wanted to experiment with prompting pdfs with a large context which is extremely expensive with how LLMs are priced. [...] For summarization, the performance of these models are decent enough. However unfortunately in my use case I felt using Gemini's Free Tier with it's multimodal capabilities and much better quality output made running local LLMs not really worth it as of right now, atleast for consumers.
[...] If an RTX 4090 can't get to 60 FPS on an empty map, what will happen when the game is running on an RTX 4060 and it has to render a complete city? [...] If you're satisfied with the game being playable then play it, but others may have different expectations of quality, and it's not wrong for them to voice their opinion when the product they paid money for doesn't meet them. [...]
[...] I’ve been using PixiJS (WebGL) for an project and Chrome profiler says the GPU is in use almost 100% of every frame. [...] But it’s a single quad being rendered at 60fps on an RTX 4060, so that’s obviously misleading… I hope.
[...] Wallet Cracking: Implements optimized Hashcat modules for attacking Metamask's PBKDF2-SHA256 encryption (fixed the outdated implementation in standard Hashcat) Performance Benchmarks With Metamask's recent security improvements (increasing iterations from 10K to 600K): - M-series Mac: 968 H/s (down from 57,736 H/s) - RTX 4060: 2,400 H/s This significantly increases crack time but doesn't make it impossible with targeted dictionaries. [...] System Security: Running security tools may trigger antivirus software or security monitoring systems. [...]
