Garmin Instinct 2

[...] The app is decent, the metrics are awesome, and the accessories work without fuss (I pair mine with the Heart Rate strap when doing kettlebell stuff). I love my other watches and still have one or two I will eventually convince myself to buy, but the Garmin Instinct 2 has been on my wrist for 90% of the last year.

I like my Garmin Instinct 2, I've had it for like 2 years now. Battery life is great, it tracks my sleep and my heart rate, and it has tons of different activites. It's a little pricey but I wear it like every day, and I defintley have justified its price point.

I think battery life is the most important. My Garmin Instinct 2 goes about 3.5 weeks between charging (the older non-OLED screen). [...] But a watch, something people will wear swimming, sweaty, in the rain, etc, is something that should ideally follow the wireless charging standards, and not have a plug taking up space, and being a spot for leaks...

fwiw I bought a two-year old Garmin model on clearance like 5 years ago and they continued to support it all the way up until I bought an Instinct 2 this year. So I think you’ll be happy with the support you get.

Yeah, my Garmin (an Instinct 2 Solar) has ruined me for other smartwatches. I appreciate not having to think about charging it in the summer and only monthly in the winter. I appreciate the reliability of an always-on screen rather than one that usually turns on when I turn my wrist. I appreciate the consistency of buttons that I have learned by feel rather than fiddly touch/voice controls that usually work the way I want. I'd consider upgrading it someday so that I don't need to bring a phone for podcasts or ad-hoc navigation, but only if those do not come at the expense of battery life, always-on screen, and physical buttons. I think Ive owned every smart watch from the very old school tom toms and polars to apple watches to early android wear models and the Instinct 2 Solar is the best balance of functionality and battery life Ive ever seen.

I got the Garmin Instinct 2, which is pricier then just a plain band, but it's monochrome only so people seem to overlook it in favour of the flashier colour models. So Garmin's often flogging them off at half price or less & this affordable. [...]

I got a Garmin Instinct 2, mostly because I didn't want to go for a more top of the line model until I knew how I would use it and because I was already bought into the Garmin ecosystem with my cycling gear. I have liked it so far! The 28 day battery life is kind of nuts, lol.

fully debugged And here I am each morning having to manually enforce sync multiple times to have my fucking Garmin watch sleep data show up in my iPhone Garmin app. I love this watch (Instinct 2) but it’s far from bug free even in its most fundamental functions like data sync
