Galaxy Z Flip 5

I've had my Galaxy Z Flip 5 for 3 years now, had the Flip 3 for years before that. [...] I am clumsy, so I like that the main screen is protected. [...]

My experience has been that the customer service is poor, and repairs are frequent. The novelty of the cover screen wears off quickly, and you'll likely find yourself using the phone unfolded most of the time for efficient use. [...]

It's now been almost a year with my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and it's been a great experience. The screen still looks as good as when I bought it. The look on peoples faces when I flip open my phone and they're like yoooo what is that. my only critique of the Flip 5 is it's hard open with 1 hand.

I got a Galaxy Z Flip 5 last year, and it's been such a throwback to having that sort of device in my pocket again. I even got a GBA emulator with a custom skin!

[...] The main problem is that the hinge causes severe "scrathing" on the screen, both in the actual hinge area and rest of phone(it's not very noticeable in dark rooms, but still visible (and looks terrible in sunlight)). Now, it is possibly I could have prevented this by applying a new screen protector (after the original one wore off), but if so, they should have been included in the box with a warning that they must be used. Another infamous issue is of course the battery life, especially when you get down to 15% and it's a matter of a few minutes before it's dead. It looks like Flip 5 have improved some of these areas, but I feel like the previous phones were full priced prototypes which have made me lost trust to a degree.

Im on my 3rd replacement fold ... the screens just go bad.. you get a crease in the center at some point that becomes a permanent wrinkle the a separation bubble happens at the hinge that works its way up the center of the screen till you have a wide white air gap up the center of the screen... [...] Samsung either isnt the answer to foldable screens or foldable screens are indeed just a temporary gimmick

I use the Z Flip 3 for over a year now, for me I actually like how small the cover screen is because of the privacy. At work even if I'm busy I just double tap and check the notifications if there is something important and if there is then that's when I open my phone. [...] It's very helpful and I'm not using that much battery by doing this.

I've been using a Zflip3 for almost 2 years and the feeling of separation you get when you close it is one of the best features. It's like closing your laptop at work and giving something else your full attention. It makes you a lot more conscious of when you are spending time on your phone and when you are not which is a really good thing.

As a flip 5 user so far my experience had been good but recently after 6 months of usage there was a green line in the phone for which the servicr centre change the display under warranty then afrer 3 days there is a black dot i cant say its a reliable phone. Typing this on my Z Flip 5: Yes, you were wrong my friend, this phone is awesome 🤣 I do have 2 things that stood out pretty much immediately that I'm not thrilled about. scrcpy is amazing software something other people might not have realised you could possibly get Dex on some unsupported devices. I got it working on my Galaxy Z Flip 5 using scrcpy --new-display=1920x1080/284

Here in 2026. I just bought one refurb for 239 yesterday. Cant wait to play with it. I had a fold 4 when it was the current Gen model and I loved it but I was always curious about the flip.

I have a very hands-on job, and it's pretty busy all the time, so honestly, the quick access to the apps without opening the phone is going to be very useful for me.

To be able to have a larger screen on the front means being able to use it one handed quickly when on the go or quickly checking something then having the larger inside display when you're relaxing is a great idea. [...]

Ive never had a phone this nice and fun. I'm not a huge tech person, but as an everyday consumer i absolutely love how i can use the outside screen for everything. Its quick simple and easy ❤

3 weeks now and I am still loving this phone more then any phone I had before. Android or Apple.

After years of being an iPhone user, I've made the switch to the Flip 5 and I couldn't be happier. This is definitely my new go-to device – it's super fun and incredibly practical

I was just at the gym using the outside screen. Youtube was great, I got to watch things I wanted to learn about w/o having to open my phone, id just access the outside screen to navigate videos while listening to it with my ear pods. It was a nice use case

I like how the hinge blocks the dust or sand from getting into the phone's screen like Samsung Z flip Samsung made this phone much more smarter from the last year's one

I was able to trade in my 256gb Flip 4 for a 512gb Flip 5 for only 99 bucks. If Samsung keeps their trade-in program going like this I can definitely see myself buying the newest Z Flip every year.

I switched from an iphone 13 pro max, I wanted the flip for a few generations now and the refinements were the deciding factor, seemed like the form factor had matured enough and I'm enjoying it so far ❤

I have a flip 3, and find the half-open is super useful as it's essentially a built-in camera tripod. Honestly one of the biggest positives of a folding phone.

I have been a lifelong iPhone user and just switched to the Flip 5 a few days ago. So far I love it!

I appreciate you giving this a second look. I have supported the Samsung flip project since gen 1 and I can say the flip5 has really hit a home run. I would like to see more app functionality on the front screen, e.g if I have the app open on main screen and when I close the lid I can access the app on the fold screen and vise versa.

Had a Flip 3, then a Flip 4, now a Flip 5. From the 3 to the 4 because the screen protector started to detach, just in time for the 4 to come out and Samsung's trade in program made it a no brainer. [...] That said, got my Flip 5 yesterday and was up and running in no time. [...]

My issue with the Flip 4 that made me have to trade it in was that it wasn't nearly durable enough for my day-to-day use and especially the weather. The non-existent dust resistence made it way too easy to get dust stuck in the folding mechanism and it became audibly crackly when I folded it only after a few months of normal use. Since I live in Minnesota, it was -20 degrees fahrenheit last winter and my screen protector cracked and bubbled in the middle when I tried closing the phone after using it for maps in my car. [...]

[...] The SoC in the Flip 5 is sandwiched between two PCBs so there's no way to attach it to the metal frame for cooling through a vapor chamber like the S23 does. Of course the hinge takes up a lot of space.

My problem with the Z Flip 5, is that it stops background apps unless the phone is OPEN. [...] I will say it is convenient to fit in my pocket, camera is awesome, and the front screen access is cool. [...] And it streams my music off my phone without touching it while driving. Even GPS runs through my car speakers. However, since the battery loses its power very fast, my step app stops unless I manually open into the app. [...]
