Galaxy S23

The only smartphone in my close circles I know to have outlasted its usefulness without having its screen cracked is an LG P350 - my first ever smartphone (which incidentally was barely powerful enough to run its own OS; from then on, I always just saved up money and bought a flagship). Since then, I've seen friends getting new Pixels one day, and breaking their screens the next; in the Galaxy line alone, I had my S4 screen replaced twice, I personally replaced the screen in my wife's S3, my S7 died with a black screen after hitting the pavement (it was in a case, but the impact angle was unlucky); my wife just got the screen replaced on her S23. A family member broke a new Galaxy Tab when their briefcase hit the ground, etc. Same for cheaper devices too. (EDIT: well, OK, my wife's Huawei P8 didn't live long enough to get its screen broken - 6 months in, it wasn't able to make a phone call without freezing. Replaced it with an S9, whose screen theoretically never cracked - instead, at some point, top half of the display got hue-shifted towards pink.) Things got much worse when phones became glass/metal instead of glass/plastic; I personally am not brave enough to operate a modern smartphone without a case while standing on hard floor (bathroom tiles, or pavement outside). [...] Regardless, before smartphones, neither the screen nor the buttons were particularly fragile; you only ever worried about breaking the plastic case (or the flip mechanism in flip phones) after using the phone as a hammer one too many times...

Cameras are very bad in artificial light. I used for an year heats up quickly battery sucks. Except display a crap phone.

just replaced the screen (6 green lines over the span of a year) and battery (slight bloating) on my 256gb S23, bought March 2023. [...] phone is like new now and the spend was well worth it. considering the S26 still uses the same camera hardware and not many changes anyway.

I have an s23. Bought in 2/23 got the x2 storage so i have the 256gb for the price of the 128gb still until now 3 yrs later the phone is great I love it the only down side is the battery its pretty weak last me half the day or 3/4 of the day max if I don't use it much. Waiting for the s27 hope some big improvements because from s23 until s26 the improvements are basically none existing

Bought one second hand in march 2025 for €250 in great condition. I'm absolutely loving it, no other phone could have had this much value for the price

Bought mine in the pre-order back in 2023 still using till date nothing wrong and not much difference from the flagship today. I'll only update in about 2 or 3 years time or if it breaks

I’ve had the S23 for about two years now. It’s an insanely good phone and has never lagged. Even today, I’m still amazed by the camera quality. The battery has always been the weak point, lasting around 4 to 6 hours, but it charges so fast that I barely notice this issue

S23 is my first top cell phone, I bought in august 2023 and it performs well in everything I need and promised ❤ I'll only replace it when it's truly obsolete, as I don't believe there's any need to change it now. The cameras are good, it has excellent storage, and its design is reminiscent of others in the line

I bought it when launched was working perfectly fine... untill the battery started swelling up because of the delay it swelled to much i got backup of 1 min on full charge... i changed the battery from Official service centre that costed me 3000 rupees almost 35$ and all set. It's all good for next atleast 2 more years, specially when the major updates and security updates will not be rolling out for this beast.!! Edit: Note:- If you guys are experiencing some lags, frame drops anything related to a jerk.... get your battery replaced specially if it's over 2 years. [...]

I've had my s23 for 3 years. It's great. The size is perfect

After nearly three years, the lightsaber feature has become available on my S23 screen.. 😢 Luckily, the line's on the left, so I can see the screen clearly.

My S23 has pink lines after 2 years and 7 months after purchase

I bought the samsung galaxy s23 back in september 2025 coming from a z flip 5 and i was blown away. I plan to keep this phone until 2027 because there is one last major update to come later this year for the s23, which is one ui 9 😁

It was a good phone but after 3 months after the warranty got over i got greenline and i had to replace the screen and all i got was a 50% off of the display price which is still high .

Battery seems to be the only problem, I ve been using my s23 since past 2.5 years, at this point I only get 3.4 to 4 hours of battery.

I am using S23 and my sister having S24. I have seen so many people preferring S24 due to 8 yr update. [...] Because i have been taking photos in both phones and always the output is good in S23. I have my S23 since march 2023, bought as new, and only disadvantage is battery life for me. After 3 years of everyday usage I have to top up during the day or in the afternoon, plug it in car while driving home from work, or just slap on magsafe powerbank (you can get magsafe cases for s23). [...] I get around 4 max 5 hours of SOT, so days when Im busy with work are OK 😁 But when im using phone a lot, browsing web, doomscrolling facebook and instagram, using maps and camera etc. it drains quite fast.

My wife and I have had these for three years now and they are still extremely fast. The only complaint would be the battery doesn't last like it did new, but that's to be expected

I've got an S23 Plus since it was new in February 2023, after 1st 2 years the fast charging went out the window and it's now regular charging and I keep the software updates up to scratch

Good phone I used for 1 year but cameras are not good, although most youtubers recommended for camera.

Typing this on my S23 I bought for a steal a year ago.. Everything is great but like most people mentioned, battery life is the biggest concern but luckily wireless charging really helps as I have at least 80% whenever I'm stepping out

In my case, only problem after 3 years - degrading battery, but it still give me 5h screen time. My phone dropped without case countless times, and has only few scratches on frame. Still enjoying it❤

Odd. It was a designers dream (and a readability nightmare) but I didn't have an issue with scroll. Firefox on Samsung S23, not exactly a new or a powerful phone but rendered it fine.

I work sometimes in frontend and mostly in backend but I cant still comprehend why are we going backwards. shouldnt the websites be so optimized that they should be able to run in normal pc / smartphone rather than s23 is failing to load it. I guess at least bigger companies have that kind of resource for optimization but still not doing it why?

I can't turn it off on my Samsung Galaxy S23 which I originally bought, because it was not marketed with AI. The patched it in later and ever since it just randomly starts as if it was listening all the time.

Personally I've tried the ones of my wife on my Galaxy S23 and I have frequent audio cuts, since it's the only Bluetooth device I've ever experienced that, there's some shenanigans for sure in their firmware.

I don’t know what the heck happened with the S23 production, but it was the worst phone I ever owned. Had a factory defective GPS module, could barely last a day of normal use without a charge, and just generally had poor performance overall for the price. That phone is the reason I am writing this reply from an iPhone today.

Yes I have several of those and they still work with my S23. [...] There was a second version which was flat so you could use the phone as touchpad. But it was thick, lacked ethernet port so it wasn't really worth it IMO. When you use a dock it's trivial to use a mouse, way better than any touchpad.

The article makes some great points about how iOS software is regressing, but it still feels so much better than almost any other software I use on a daily basis. I face none of the issues on my Samsung S23 phone, which the parent commentator describes - no issues in phones calls (I make 4-5 calls daily, mix of WhatsApp & regular calls), no major issues in Google Keep (which I use 2-3 times daily, specially never of a note becoming "blank"), and again no major issues in the Google App Store or updates (which I use on an average once a week). So maybe, the software quality varies by user experience rather than one platform being universally better.

My S23 enters airplane mode and the WiFi and Bluetooth are still connected... Airplane mode isn't what it used to be!

I just got my used S23 Plus from Amazon; it is in good condition and looks brand new. One thing I really like is the camera zoom.The zoom-in quality is superb, and I can read tiny letters about 10 feet away.

How is camera not top tier? I got the latest 26 and it has the same camera hardware. I honestly like the more popping colors of s23 better than my new phone.

Still using my samsung s23 plus . I mostly used my s23 plus than my iphone 17 pro max since my iphone is much too heavy. haha
