Nowadays batteries seem to be doing pretty good, though. I've got a galax s20 fe, and the battery is still fine after 5 years.
I upgraded my P20 pro to a Samsung S20FE, and it felt like a downgrade. My wife took over my P20pro, and she's still rocking it, more than 5 years later. The screen is cracked in a corner, but the phone trucks along like nobody's business. [...]

Think I'm gonna have to change phones again. I've had a Google Pixel 7 for 4 months now and it's so disappointing compared to the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G I had before. Calls constantly cut out, camera not as good (especially zoom), can't output display through USB C, no Secure Folder-like feature.
This is a bit related, but not precisely on top of the major topic we are discussing, but I'll say it anyway: I just got a brand new Samsung A56 for my personal use, and I just found out, like a minute ago, that I can't set a maximum battery charge (say 85%) without internet. It's asking me to turn on the WiFi. [...] If I had to guess it's because Samsung wants to keep a profile of my battery settings and they need that telemetry, but not allowing me to set the bloody thing without internet is insane. iOS 26 has been really hard on my 13 mini. Most menus lag, you have to wait sometimes 5 seconds for the control center menu to pop up sometimes. I dug my old Samsung S20 FE out of the drawer, applied the last few security patches, and it still runs more smoothly than the newer iPhone.
Some comparison websites do not list DeX for the cheaper S20FE -- AFAIK all S models since then offer it? [...] keyboard, 34" screen) available for my phone.
My old Samsung S20FE can plug into my office-issue Dell monitor and give me full Dex desktop (also using the second screen) and connect to the keyboard and mouse that stay wirelessly connected to the USB ports on the screens. IIRC it also made use of the headset plugged in via USB. If I was a student with Chromebook-style needs (browser-based tools) it would be worth considering instead of a laptop.
