Fujifilm X100VI

To be honest I had the X100v and the F& T before that but I still love the original I have had since 2011. When I take out the original I still get many comments

After my one-year experience with the X100VI, I completely agree with your opinion. A very precise and unbiased description of what to expect from this camera, and what not to expect.

The camera they want is also the camera I want. I say this as someone who still regularly shoots with an Olympus Pen-F and also has a Fuji X100VI, and primarily shoots a Nikon Z8 but wishes there was a more compact entry into FF. I actually really like the m4/3/MFT format, especially for travel photography, but it's a struggle because the best lenses are Pana/Leica and the best bodies are OM/Oly, and neither has done much to really develop the technology in the last 10 years. [...] And I'm going to take an X100VI, for most days, and mirrorless with 2 lenses for 2 or 3 of the days tops. I have an SSD with a CF/SD reader, and both cameras I will have have USB-C charging so I want to enjoy, but not have the experience be secondary to photography.

This camera is definitely a luxury item, but I will say - it does exactly what I wanted it for. I wanted a good camera that was much smaller than my huge canon R6 mkiii kit - something I can use as an everyday carry. Better photos than my phone. And also one less reason to pull my phone out. [...] I’m capturing a lot more real life photos of my family photojournalist-style which I totally love; more picture with friends; more pictures just for the love of photography.

Nice camera, but the autofocus is terrible. Sometimes it even freezes and needs a restart.I ended up shooting only in manual and have now sold my Fuji.

Only recently have stocks of the X100 vi become available in the UK, some at crazy pricss, which coincided with the release of the, much more thoughtfully designed, much better build quality than the XE4, XE5. I bought this in black, as I have a fair few Fuji lenses. Beautiful camera and finally a mature XE design.

Got one 3 days ago. Still didn't have time to test it properly. Looks like a ton of fun. I have also X-H1 when I need to switch lenses.

I received my x100vI two weeks after launch and I love it. The build quality on mine is great. Unfortunately I have the same problem with the ON/OFF button. I think that is, in my opinion, the weak point of the experience with the X100VI.

I own the fuji x100f, a friend of mine got the x100vi. Hell the build quality has dropped..

Still using the Fujifilm X-E3 with the 27mm. Maybe someday I will get a X100 series camera.

Lovely but it’s a no for me, and I’m a Fuji Fan Boy ( xt1 pro x1 and 2, xh1 and xt4) I was left feeling underwhelmed having used one for a few days 😵

still happy with my X100S that is still pocketable (and clunkier in a lot of aspects but that characteristic is what makes the little thing fun to use) and it makes me want to pick it up more in a shoot compared to the near-perfect modern cameras with all the DR, and focus modes we have. I have an R6 and it just collects dust most of the time because even if it's a good camera, it just feels boring and soulless.

I just went into shop nearby and was testing x100vi and xt5. Gosh both camera was terrible in autofocusing simple static things. x100vi was having 1 more issue, it was feeling heated during test pics and I was in ac showrrom.. [...]

I have a xt30 and yah single shot is awesome. If I miss the shot I never think “if only I had my a7iv” because the fujifilm is really just that fun. Picking up my x100vi from my work in a few weeks as Im pretty lucky and work at a tech store and see everything come through first

Having had an x100f for a few year’s alongside my xt3 I decided to preorder the VI, sadly Fuji only supply this camera (like the V) to social media influencers and not loyal customers, as such I purchased a 23mm f2 and stuck it on my xt3, might just he saved myself £1600. Very disillusioned with Fuji, imagine a new iPhone that you couldn’t buy

My 2 months experience: ebay search for near retail prices, follow-up email on my pre-order, reddit search on x100vi photos, more follow-up email about my pre-order, youtube binge on x100vi videos, google search on whether I should just buy a GR iiix, another follow-up email about my pre-order Thank you Fujifilm. Best camera ever.

I bought it because I’ve found with my film photography that I was taking my 35mm 2.8 lens pocket cameras more than my SLRs and wanted something digital that would do the same. Add in weather sealing, ibis, 40mp… it was a no brainer to replace my Olympus em-10ii.

I’ve played around with the Fuji X RAW Studio app a bit, saving custom recipes I already had keyed into the camera, but i did NOT realize that 1) you can input/modify recipes right there in the app, AND THEN 2) upload those recipes to the camera. This makes setting up, testing, and selecting recipes SO much easier! Thanks for that technical insight Jason - brilliant!

I shoot raw and edit in-camera. It would be better if your edits are shown to you in real time but I would say, stick with it. It's a learning curve and you can definitely get to a level where you know the effect your edits will have without the preview.

Got mine for a couple of weeks now, and I gotta say it's a fun shooting experience. The fun factor is strong in this camera

I just got this camera. Usually, i shoot wild life and birds up to 500mm and own a couple cheap primes too. I thought the x100vi would fix some hole i thought i had in my lineup. I like some of the film sims and all the features of the camera are great. But i just cannot get over how soft the images can be at times it feels so jarring because of the usual crispy photos i aim for. [...] Only thing is I like taking pictures of animals a lot more and don’t want to be known as the camera guy in my circles. [...]

On the subject of UHS-SD cards, the X100vi only requires a UHS-1. It can however, use a UHS-II SD card, but it will not gain any speed advantages because the camera's card slot is limited to UHS-I speeds. [...] I totally agree that it’s annoying that it doesn’t have a dedicated video switch/button

[...] I own the X100VI and don't use it anywhere near as much as I should, it cost me a kidney (not quite but you know...) to buy so when I do get to use it I try to get my money's worth. How do people walk around all day carry Leica or Hasselblad camera's?? [...]

Hi Kyler, great review, thankyou, think my biggest gripe, is not having a physical switch for the flash, and not having the ability to turn off the rear screen when in use , like on an old skool DSLR ( i know it can be turned off, and the evf used ) but it would be nice if the evf gave the "shooting " view, but the rear screen came on for menu and playback, proper pain having menu in the evf, This might also give a bit of extra battery life too.

[...] My biggest gripe is that I don't really like the lcd screen on all the time, and even though it switches off when you look through the viewfinder or it's against your body on a strap, I prefer to have it switched off. However, you'd have thought that when you press the MENU button the lcd would come back on for that function, rather than being displayed on the evf. [...]

X100VI is a great camera.. [...] I have several cameras.. [...] the X100VI wasn’t worth its $$ so I sold it and replaced with an X-Pro2 & X100T.

Good on you for sharing your experiences, positive and negative; I think I have had a similar camera journey to you in that I have been with Fuji for a long time but favour Sony in many ways these days. I still have X-Pro1, X-T1, X-T3 and X-H1 and enjoy the output from those earlier Fuji sensors but Sony more reliably gets me the shots I need and now seems to have better build (let's not even mention AF, ahem...).

Hi Roman, same issue here with the power button. It's the more annoying one for me because I love this camera and I have to take care of power status every time 😢
