Echo Dot (5th Gen)

I remember your echo dot 3rd gen videos from 2018! 4 years later, I'm looking to upgrade to the 5th generation

I’m also gonna use it with my battery operated Amazon ring outdoor camera because I have no indoor doorbell ringer, nor doorbell wiring. I’ll use the dot as my inside doorbell connected to the ring camera. I also have a new Amazon echo show 11, which also well notify me when somebody pushes the outdoor Ring button.

how are the mikes ? my eco 3 went from hearing me from another room to having to yell sometimes from 2 meters away, a lot are complaining about this which is likely to be an intentional downgrade.

The issue wirh room presence sensors is that I have pets and I don't want my dogs and cats triggering routines, so for me anything with a presence or movement sensor us just useless.

It still boggles my mind that we have this technology. I bought three of the non-clock 5th generation to replace the three first generation Echo Dots - HUGE improvement.

I just bought the 5th Gen Alexa . I live in the Uk , but I do not have the pause gesture .

Do all of them have LED display I just got my two new fifth generation Echo dots and the LED display does not turn on and I can’t find it in device settings

Hi, I don’t know if someone can help me but my alexa echo dot 5 doesn’t have all the options on the tap gestures, it only shows that i can postpone my alarm, does anyone knows why? and if so, how can I have the other options? 😢

I got one of these and it purchased music by itself...so I unplugged it and don't use it.

So frustrated with smart speakers in general. [...] I recently tried the Echo Dot 5th Gen, after having tried previous versions of Echo. Sound is very good, internet connectivity is very good, BUT, like previous generations, it does not respond to commands consistently. My primary use is for listening to audio books via Bluetooth on my iPhone. I got my first echo dot. I got the deep sea blue color of the 5th generation

I bought several 3rd gen dots recently for $15 each. Since they have audio out ports they van be plugged into a bigger sound system such as a stereo for a much better sound. Much better,

I have the Amazon Echo Dot 5th gen and its not displaying anything and on my phone it has no settings for it. Also when I say enable clock is says this device doesn't support that.

[...] The new features on it are kinda nifty, the sound is obviously better, and I even got 2 free lightbulbs with it for the Black Friday price, not bad. I'm kinda fascinated by the display on it, can't wait to see a teardown somewhere. I do agree it's a little hard to read the display from afar, so I'm not totally sure if I'm going to replace my big red LED clock with it or just use this near my desk. I'll have to see if playing with the brightness helps at all. I'm not a constant music player on it, if I was I'd say getting some halfway decent external speakers and plugging them into my 3rd gen would be the way to go, but that also would take a lot more room.

I just got a 5th gen dot for $33 after 50% alexa date and 25% trade in with a instant trade in gift card. (Traded in a 2nd gen broke I had sitting in closet)

The light is way too bright, even on the lowest setting. I can’t sleep with the clock on - I have to manually turn off the light in the Alexa app every night before bed, and it can’t be scheduled to turn off, and you can’t just ask Alexa to do it for you. So I have to turn on my Apple Watch in nightstand mode to know what time it is at night. What a massive pain. I regret this purchase

I bought the larger version 4 dot and hate the Alexa interface . The sound is great, but my wife cannot control the lights anymore...

I just bought and returned the Gen 5 Dot. Its so new that it has bugs — impossible to get set up on my wifi network.

Whole reason I got a 4th gen was because of the zigbee hub. Got a fantastic deal on smart lights that whose service was discontinued by the manufacturer and this was a way to make them work.

I have the echo dot 5th gen with clock and definitely believe it's worth the upgrade. The speaker does sound more clear and full. I actually replaced a echo 4th gen in my kitchen with it because I just don't need the bass of the 4th gen echo in the kitchen and that allowed me to have two echo 4th gens for stereo sound from my bedroom TV. My 4th Gen doesnt seem to have a temperature sensor. Anyone else have that problem or am I missing something here?

Why is that device's that I've had for long time periodically show up as a new device in the Alexa app?

We tried the last Gen dot with clock in our bedroom but the volume was wonky, at the lowest setting it was still very loud when we used any sleep sounds. We swapped it out for a 5in show and that was great, but the shows screen brightness won't adjust low enough, the volume is perfect though. I picked up a Show 15 and then moved a Show 8 into the bedroom and it sounds great but the bigger screen is brighter still even at 7-8% brightness level... I do enjoy all the functionality of my Amazon assistants especially when they drop in price during Prime Days!

I have 2 of tghe 4th gen and 2 3rd gen. I'll sticfk with them.

I got min few days ago but I m having problems with the device. I ask my status order but it keep saying I don’t have any oder in my name but actually I do have in my account. I don’t understand. I logged in Alexa app same account of my Amazon account but I don’t see any notifications in the echo when I turn on the notifications in apps. Do u have any solution for this? I contact with the customer care n did everything they told me to do but the result is same

Does anyone know how to sync the Alexa announcements? I have multiple Echos and it’s very ignoring when each talk at it’s own speed. It seems like you can sync the music but you just can’t sync the announcements. Any idea?

I am extremely happy with my echo 3rd gen! And I love the thing that I can hang it below main plug :) I wonder if the echo dot 4th or 5th gen can be paired with 3rd gen to be used as a stereo speakers? Larger echo has better sound, why I never heard if it 😮

I bought a bunch of the Echo devices starting with the original and following through to the Echo Show and several other versions. I kept buying each new generation thinking “okay, THIS version will get it right…” but I kept being mostly disappointed with the underpowered processors and the poor sound quality. [...]

I really wanted to buy the echo dot 5th gen with clock but then I found out it was discontinued just recently. I was quite sad about it but I bought the regular echo dot 5th gen anyways. Now this is about sound quality now but the echo dot 5th gen sounds really good for its size but it's not too impressive once you actually want to play music through it. [...]

I have both, the Echo Dot 5th generation with and without the LED display, the specs seem to be the same for both, but I find the the Dot with the display does not sound as good as the Dot without the display? Please respond and tell me if anyone else noticed a difference.

Great that Amazon continues to push the hardware technology, but the Alexa App could use some love too. I've been suggesting, every chance I get to have the app display the room temperature on the cards (room), that contain an echo device or sensor that tracks the temperature. Still nothing yet!

I like the larger echo fourth GEN and fifth GEN. I just don’t understand why they don’t have the clock like they do on the dot.??!!

0:39 I see why Amazon got rid of the headphone jack. I had a 3rd gen and I never used it and I actually did not like it cuz when I needed to unplug it sometimes, I would shove the power adapter into the wrong hole.
