Canon EOS R100

Camera market is so confusing .. Filled with buzzwords like log video ,xyz point autofocus , max iso blah blah which a beginner never understands and always either refrains himself from buying a camera or maybe sometimes buy a camera which is an overkill .. I got into astronomy then decided to click related pictures and realised how much important is manual settings for most of the photography use cases.. was dicey so got the cheapest camera to learn which is r100 . One year later.. I am still using this plus now have two more lenses sigma 2.8 18-50 and rf 100-400 , I have started understanding exposure now , have started clicking street , birds , astro , landscapes , travel while enjoying all of it ..( yes some people don’t figure out their shooting style from day1 and are also on budget) Proud of some shots this camera gave me ..

Here we are a year later and as I predicted, the R100 is a best seller, just like the T100 before it was. Most people on Youtube have no clue about business and the want for sub $500 cameras in a world where most cameras are absurdly overpriced. Thats why most everyone just uses their smartphones now, no one wants to pay $1,000-$1,500 for ENTRY level cameras. You can get one of these now for $299 which is cheaper than most lenses these days lol. Just used my R100 today for a fashion portrait shoot for a local clothing brand, client and model loved the photos. [...] An R100 with a great lens will produce excellent photos.

I was looking for a good point and shoot camera when I came across the R100 with 18-45mm kit lens shipped to my door directly from Canon for $599.00 Canadian. Most reviewers look at the R100 from the perspective of full featured much more expensive cameras and that is not the target market. Look at it from the point of view of someone looking for or moving up from a point and shoot camera. [...] The big bonus for me is that with a cheap adapter I use my mid 70s FD50mm and FD135mm lens that have been wasted and moth balled for years. [...] Those FD lenses sure take nice pictures. I bought this camera trough a student deal which set me back less then €400, I was on a very limited budget and wasn't sure if photography was something for me. FWIW, I’m a pro and I just bought a new personal everyday camera. A Canon EOS R100, and I recommend it highly. [...] I bought a fixed lens for it but you can get an 18-45 lens and you’ll be all set.

Libby gave me a Canon EOS R100 with 2 lenses as a Christmas gift and it took me about an hour to learn about the exposure triangle and now I use it all the time. Really fun and the results are so much better than a phone camera!

I got my R100 camera at Price of R50 due to my mistake. [...] First I purchased R50 however my wife was not happy about it due to wasting money on camera so in depression I returned R50 to same canon store after 4 days of use with loss of 200 dollars. But after that I and my wife realised that I can not live happy without camera. So I purchased R100 which has price 200 dolar less than R50. In this way finally I got my R100 at price of R50. Expirementing with the new camera. I got a Canon EOS R100 package deal with all sorts of knick knacks. Gonna be on the expensive journey of buying new lenses here soon.

Got the proper camera and I have been playing around with it and the photos are real good. I got a canon Eos R100.

i got a canon eos r100 for christmas and i have no clue how photography works rlly 😭 i've messed with it a bit and it's fun taking photos on auto (mostly mirror selfies cause it makes me feel cute lol, and i haven't felt like leaving my apartment…) so uh any resources would be cool pls? photography

Hi Ken, took your advice from the web review. I did purchase the R100 body only and then the most current efs 18-135mm lens. I’m going to play with it to get use to it, but the main reason for the purchase was our upcoming trip to Australia later this summer. Wanted something a bit smaller, lighter, and easy to use. Most importantly, no lens swapping…

Hi Ken, I do like the pop up Flash especially on sunny days, where it's good for portraits. The people face and eye detection is certainly welcomed. As you have said in the past Ken, in the right hands the photographer can make do with some of those less features. Thanks Ken 😊

I was debating which one to get between R50 and R100, R50 was $699 and the R100 was $499 both kit setup, so what i did was get to get the R100 and the RF 50mm 1.8 for the price of R50, having touch screen and articulating screen doesn’t make my photo nice but the lenses do 😊

After fundraising and saving enough, i bought myself a new camera for streaming, particularly the cooking streams. B&H had a sale. So I upgraded what I was planning to get and got the Canon Eos R100 Mirrorless

Really wish this came with the stop motion firmware instead of having to send it in. For me I use manual controls in the studio with the stop motion software so the controls are to an issue for me.

I have a Samsung mid range phone & the 2x digital zoom photos look pretty good. I guess the R100 kit zoom 18-45mm lens would take better photos - but how much better? The six frames per second shutter speed of the R100 is nice though.
