Blue Yeti

Ok Ive been beating my head against my mic issue for awhile I need opinions since I've used only a blue yeti for years and have been trying to make a shure mic work but static has kind scared me away from using it for anything. Pls help too dumb to fix =w=

unless you're looking for an XLR setup for "actual professional recording" quality: for regular calls and stuff, i've been using the same blue yeti USB mic for easily over a decade now. bonus tip, get a rhode arm with desk clamp to hang it from while you're at it. also you do not need a pop filter

Well now you've got me wondering if I should get a new mic (been using my Blue Yeti since 2014).

That's correct everyone! I finally got a thing to hold my Blue Yeti USB microphone on my microphone stand with a pop filter I got it years ago for Christmas, which I noticed the microphone it came with isn't working so I stick with Blue Yeti and if you want me to VA, feel free to ask me on DM!!!

Oh yeah I never really explained this here but my Focusrite officially has crapped out on me after seven months of use. And I know it’s the interface bc I hear no crackling listening through my Blue Yeti mic I have a new interface on the way but for now I wait

Hey I'm looking for some guidance/opinions on Microphones for streaming. I've been using the same blue yeti for the last 10 years for my PC and wanna look for a new mic to use with Black Friday around the corner. Any suggestions on what to look out for on sales/deals?

Work headset is fine. At home I have a Blue Yeti + Logitech Brio that sounds and looks good.

I don't know how the Blue Yeti continues to get so much praise. i got one years ago when the hype was especially fresh. People were using it over their headset mics for comms while gaming but I swear there is no way anyone who recommended them for that ever heard the mic from the other end. [...] Even on an arm with a shock mount and pop filter it's still better to just use a properly directional headset mic. Better to sound like you're talking over a can and string than to have every little sound clearly audible.

ㅤ I bought an Ass 'zen drive' and it seems an older gen model but it's working as intended. no fuss or anything crossy fingys I also bought a new usb cord for my Blue Yeti because it was driving me to tears for ages, it was wonky and wouldn't sustain an audio throughput. scratchy and such ㅤ ㅤ

Related: I got a classic Blue Yeti and a new mic arm today after the GX made me crash out & yeah, it's night & day. Easier to deal with & I might actually be more audible without also hearing every single desk tap. Don't know how Logitech thought the GX was even an remotely acceptable replacement.

I think the best one I ever had was the turtle beach x12 but that's long been out of production which is why I got a blue yeti at some point.

I used a Blue Yeti USB Microphone to start. That got upgraded to a Stellar X2 a few years later. Nowadays I use a Shure KSM32!

blue yeti nothing crazy but its nice. not sure if you were around for this but last time i had a decent mic was a rental so its good to have a compact one that i own ill probably be replacing it with a better one later on if i get there but pluey already has a special place in my heart

[...] Possibly Jitsi doesn’t do it as well as Zoom or Google Meet, so my experience on Jitsi was a night and day improvement switching from Blue Yeti (cardioid mode) to a dynamic mic.

The Blue Yeti is a condenser mic, so it picks up a lot of background noise. Going the dynamic mic route can end up costing a bit more, but worth it in my opinion. Unless you have a very quiet environment and don’t need to type on a keyboard or click a mouse while on calls.
