Apple Magic Trackpad

The Apple Magic TrackPad works well on Linux, both via Bluetooth and USB-C. I used one for a few years.

I've had pain in wrist area 15yrs ago when I was using a mouse a lot. Then it went down when I started using an apple magic trackpad, and even more after start using Vim for editing (no mouse, only keyboard for movement). Consider this a trial of 1, but 15yrs on Vim and no pain, or close to it.

At least older models of Apple Magic Trackpad work over USB just fine. I have one plugged via USB to my monitor, which acts as a KVM.

As someone who tried (and failed) to adapt to other ergonomic keyboards (like a Microsoft Sculpt a few years ago), this really speaks to me. The interesting thing is I did manage to fix most of my right wrist pain, but not through an ergo keyboard – switching to an Apple magic trackpad did the trick. But I'm still intrigued by your design - if it was something I could buy (instead of building) I would give it a go.

I have friends that use Windows that are shocked that I willingly chose to get an external trackpad when I use my Mac as desktop I use an external Apple Magic trackpad on a Windows desktop. It's a good and smooth experience.

I just want the integrated touchpad of my Dell Latitude 9330 to work decently. The libinput driver is just crap with this model, to the point that I have to connect an Apple Magic Trackpad, and that works great. Synaptic driver works better for the internal one, but apparently it is old and deprecated and everybody writes that we should not be using that.

I've connected an Apple Magic Trackpad (external bluetooth trackpad that sits on your desk) to an ubuntu machine and it's wonderful. There are still some software things to solve to get the acceleration perfect and things like scrolling working, but having trackpad hardware that isn't trash goes a really long way.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. If you do want an external trackpad and don't want to update to Sequoia, look for "Apple Magic Trackpad 2 (Lightning)" on Facebook marketplace or similar sites. I bought a stack of them once I realized the USB-C version needed Sequoia.

Is it the Apple Magic Trackpad one?? That shit is so ridiculously priced 😭 (and I bought it) and it doesn’t eat your ass unfortunately 😭

mx keys mini, im going to start using my mobile setup (tablet, apple magic trackpad 2, mx keys mini, mx ergo trackball) and everything is wireless aside from possibly keeping my ipad charging so i can max its brightness because i don't like doing that on battery out of neurosis.
